5Dimes' Backlash 2017 Odds For Sunday Morning

I've just had a look through the 5Dimes Sportsbook's betting odds for tonight's WWE Backlash 2017 and have mae a few notes that I'll share below.

Tye Dillinger .vs. Aiden English
The market is still showing the same pricing as last night with Dillinger a -825 favourite to get a decision on the Kick Off. His opponent is out at +475.

Luke Harper .vs. Erick Rowan
Rowan's odds have been falling ever since the market was published. He was +450 the last time I looked yesterday night after opening at +650. I noticed he was +333 at 6:30am BST this morning and is now down to +260. This has moved Luke Harper out from the -750 he was yesterday night into -380.  The table below shows how the market has been moving in favour of Rowan.

Date/Time
Luke Harper

21/5 6:30am

It's worth noting that I backed Rowan when the odds were released over here in Europe earlier this week. My wager was a reaction to his appearance on Talking Smack where he came across even more creepier than they had been booking him before. Rowan recorded a victory over Harper on last week's episode of Smackdown, so I was betting against 50/50 booking at the time I placed my wager.
Further to this - it was Harper who was backed when the heavy moves came over here on Friday night, so the off-shore interest in Rowan is a contradiction of what happened over here before the weekend.

Baron Corbin .vs. Sami Zayn
This market is close to a pick 'em as Baron Corbin is -130 and Zayn is -110. Corbin was originally out at +160 this is because Zayn's price had lowered over here during the weekend.

Shinsuke Nakamura .vs. Dolph Ziggler
This market opened with Nakamura a -4,500 favourite while Ziggler was out at +1,500. Before switching everything off last night, I noticed that Ziggler had been backed into +1,200. As a result, the bookies moved Nakamura to -2,600.
I think nearly everyone who follows wrestling will understand that what ever happened to Ziggler's price was very likely a punter backing the underdog at that number. It would be a head scratcher to have Nakamura lose in what the company is billing as his debut match on Smackdown.

Naomi and Co. .vs. The Welcoming Committee
When the market went live, Naomi's team were +600 outsiders. They went down to +500 within the first two hours and have stayed at this level. The Welcoming Committe, who were -1,200, are now -900.
The European bookmakers flipped The Welcoming Committee from outsiders to favourites on Friday, so Naomi and her partners seeing action here is opposing what went down over here.

US Championship
AJ Styles' price has been lowering overseas. He started off at +700, was moved into +440 within two hours and is now down to +350. Owens, on the other hand, has moved from -1,500 to -720 to -530.
The European wagers from Friday night sided with Kevin Owens, so this - once again - is a contradiction.

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship
Breezango's odds have been on the descent since the market was first published. They were out at +600, were +425 by 11pm yesterday evening and are now resting at +315. The current titleholders kicked off at -1,200, went to -675 and then to -455 in the same period.

WWE Championship
Unlike over here, where Jinder Mahal's price went as low as 1/25 in betting from Friday to Saturday, the overseas punters appear to be backing Randy Orton to leave Chicago with the win. He opened as a +1,000 fave but is now down to +225. The number one contender was initially -2,000 chalk, but is now -305.

  1. Do you think any title changes will happen...or DQ finish

    1. If the odds moves from Friday are right, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how Jinder Mahal wins the match by DQ.

I know it's possible, but I don't know how they can do it and have it make sense into the process.

  2. I'm gonna be checking news sites all day because I want to see if anything is announced regarding Randy. Something like a suspension or injury, since Jinder winning after all these reports of Vince being high on Orton just do not add up.

I agree with David though, there is no real way for WWE to have Orton DQ or counted-out (Jinder winning but not the strap). That just doesn't usually happen to the face in a match.

But for this sudden shift to Jinder winning, I have a real feeling something happened behind the scenes.

    1. Hi James,

You're jumping to conclusions with the suspension or injury theory. Even if the suspension thing were true, this sort of thing wouldn't be announced ahead of time. They get the storyline in order before announcing anything.

Just because Vince thinks highly of one of his top acts, it doesn't mean they're going to have him go over all the time. There are ways they can have Orton lose and be protected at the same time tonight if this is what is going to happen.

  3. Jinder is going to take this one(unless last minute twist decision)
It was edgy movement when smart money landed
Orton backers seem speculators most of it when he is a clear underdog still

JM is at 1.40 on betfair, decent odds if you ask me
