2 Backlash Specials That Stood Out This Afternoon

Going into this afternoon, there were three things that I was looking out for when the Kambi oddsmakers released their markets for this weekend's WWE Backlash pay-per-view.

The first thing I was intrigued to see was which match the traders would put as favouite in their Wrestling Observer Newsletter top star rating market. As noted in the most recent post, the US Championship match was given the nod. I'd be a liar if I stated that I was surprised to see that match in the top slot. However, I was holding out hope for the Shinsuke Nakamura versus Dolph Ziggler bout to be sitting on the top of the list when the market went up.

And there's a reason why. It leads to the second thing I was looking out for.

I wanted to see the time the traders set up the time prop for Nakamura versus Dolph Ziggler. My instinct going in is that it'll be relatively short so was planning to back the under regardless of what the price was.

When they went live, the lines were set at '17:00 or more' and '16:59 or less'. The under was given 9/10 to the Over's 4/5 so - technically - the under is the outsider in this market.

Even though I think the bookmaker has done a good job with setting the line, I have still taken the under.

Finally - I was interested to see how the 'Method of Decision' market for the United States Championship match would look when it was installed.

I have been going back-and-forth on how this match could go. I initially thought that Kevin Owens would get a cheap victory, but then - on this week's Smackdown - AJ Styles promised to defeat Kevin Owens while hyping up Sunday's match and went on to lose to Jinder Mahal shortly afterwards. I can't see Styles losing another match in succession, but I also can't envision Owens dropping the title again. Therefore, I strongly believe there'll be a disqualification or some sort of result where neither man is pinned or submiited.

As of the time of writing, the sportsbooks have the following prices for the 'Method of Decision' market.

The 'Any Other Result' opened at 3/1, so there's potentially other WWE fans who like the option as well as myself.

I have backed the 'Any other result' in the US Championship decision market and taken the 'Under 16:59' line in the time prop for Shinsuke Nakamura versus Dolph Ziggler. We'll find out how well they do on Sunday.
