At the start of the month, I published a post noting that the Betfair Sportsbook had started to accept wagers on the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble. I wrote that I would publish a proper look through the market after Extreme Rules, but was unable to do so because I felt covering the Money in the Bank 2017 betting odds was a priority.
Now that I have had time in between MITB and Great Balls of Fire, I've put together a spreadsheet where I plan to keep tabs on Betfair's Rumble odds right up to January.
To start off with, the first thing worth noting is that Betfair and Paddy Power both have identical markets. I wrote about this in the aforementioned post. This is because there was a merger between the two firms last year.
There have been a few changes made to the odds since I alerted you of their existence.
Roman Reigns has drifted out from 15/8 into 2/1. I believe this is correlated with John Cena being backed from 8/1 to 9/2. If the SummerSlam main event does end up with Roman Reigns challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship - and Lesnar drops the strap - John Cena should become the favourite to win the Rumble because Roman Reigns .vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 34 would look all the more likely if Reigns is the Universal champ coming out of SummerSlam.
Lesnar is one of a few names who has drifted out. His price has moved from 16/1 into 20/1. The other selections that have increased are Finn Balor (6/1 to 8/1), Jeff Hardy (14/1 to 16/1) and Matt Hardy (20/1 to 25/1).
Along with Cena's drop from 8/1 to 9/2 are Samoa Joe (10/1 to 8/1), Shinsuke Nakamura (12/1 to 10/1) and Randy Orton (16/1 to 12/1).
Here are odds for every wrestler - and other celebrities - in Betfair's market. Prices correct as of 11:30am BST this morning.
