Rumble 2018 Odds Notes For August 28th

It has been a while since I last had a proper look through the Paddy Power Sportsbook's betting market for next year's Royal Rumble. So, in this morning's post, I'll point out the wrestlers whose odds have changed since early July.

I have odds from August 22nd and today, so will be using these to compare. Before I begin, it's worth noting that John Cena and Roman Reigns are both joint-favourites to win. Their odds have remained at 9/4 for weeks.

AJ Styles
The Phenomenal One has been on the decline since July 4th. Back then, he was out at 10/1. His odds had been halved by last week and are now cut into 7/2.

Braun Strowman
The next challenger to Brock Lesnar's WWE Universal Championship was 10/1 a few weeks back. When I saw his price on Tuesday, his odds had been cut into 17/2. However, he has now been pushed back up to 10s.

Finn Balor
Finn Balor's odds drifted out from 10/1 to 12/1 sometime before last Tuesday.

Shinsuke Nakamura
Just like with Finn Balor, the odds for a Shinsuke Nakamura win went from 10s to 12/1 before Tuesday.

Randy Orton
The Viper was moved out from 12s to 14/1 between Tuesday and this morning.

Bobby Roode
Bobby Roode is the reason why I recorded the betting odds last week. There were rumours that he would be one of the NXT roster members brought up to either Raw or Smackdown following Saturday's NXT TakeOver Brooklyn III event. When he didn't appear on Raw, I decided it was worth having a speculative punt on him when he was at 33/1 in case he was brought to Smackdown. As we now know, he did in fact debut with the blue brand.
Since Tuesday, Roode's odds have been cut to 20/1.
It's worth stressing that, had his call up been for Raw, I wouldn't have had a bet on Roode because it's clear that there appears to be a direction with the Universal Championship match for WrestleMania 34. As of the time of writing, the WWE Championship match could spin off in other avenues between now and then.

Jeff Hardy
Jeff Hardy has now been moved out to 22/1 from the 20/1 he was on Tuesday.

Baron Corbin
The former Mr Money in the Bank has drifted since Tuesday. He was 20s, but is now out at 25/1. Going by everything that has happened to him in the past fortnight, it looks like he has been moved down the pecking order, so it's understandable to see his odds increase here.

The Miz
WWE Intercontinental Champion, The Miz, is another name that has been increased from 20/1 to 25/1 between Tuesday and today.

Cesaro
The former co-holder of WWE Raw Tag Team Championship was pushed to 33/1 from 25/1 sometime after Tuesday.

Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho's price went in the same direction as Cesaro.

Bill Goldberg
Bill Goldberg's price went in the same direction as Cesaro and Chris Jericho.

Jason Jordan
Unsurprisingly, the oddsmakers cut Jason Jordan's odds from 50/1 into 33/1. This was very likely a customer - or customers' - reaction to Jordan being introduced to the Raw brand as Kurt Angle's son. I wasn't surprised to see him backed, but I would be very surprised to see this story result in a 2018 Royal Rumble win.

The markets can be found on Paddy Power's WWE Betting Page. Betfair customers can find a similar market on Betfair's Special Bets Page
