Update About The John Cena Rumble Odds Note From Yesterday

In a post published yesterday, I noted that the Wednesday installment of the Wrestling Observer Live radio show had covered John Cena's 2018 WWE Royal Rumble odds and wanted to publish another update about it to clear things up.

During the show, Bryan Alvarez mentioned that he had received a text from somebody who had told him John Cena had become a favourite to win the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble. The radio host speculated that the reason why Cena's odds had fallen was because of a question and answer video Jinder Mahal had done over the weekend while on a tour of India.

I mentioned, in the post, that the person who had informed Alvarez of Cena's odds drop had the story wrong because Cena had moved into joint-favouritism on the night he returned to Smackdown.

After publishing the post in the early hours or yesterday morning, I contacted Bryan to point out that the person was incorrect and - in last night's edition of the radio show - Bryan read out the email I had sent him and clarified that he was only told that Cena was the top of the Rumble market. From there Bryan concluded that the Indian interview might have been the reason why.

Which is fair considering Bryan was given the information without knowing about the real price drop from July.

As soon as I saw the WWE Champion's interview on October 15th, I made another note of Paddy Power's Rumble market because I suspected there was a chance that the news would cause the bookmakers to move John Cena into sole-favouritism.

Cena and Roman Reigns are still 9/4 joint-favourites to win next year's battle royal.
