5Dimes' Backlash 2018 Odds Update For Thursday Morning

Here are the 5Dimes Sportsbook's WWE Backlash 2018 betting odds as of 8AM BST today.

5Dimes' WWE Backlash 2018 Betting Odds

I first wrote about these markets in a post published yesterday afternoon. Here's how some of the prices have changed since then.

Starting with the top, Shinsuke Nakamura has lowered from -210 into -245 for his WWE Championship challenge against AJ Styles. A win for the titleholder, which was +160 yesterday, is now up to +175.

Charlotte Flair's price to get a decision over Carmella in the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship match is now at -130. She was -105 when I last checked in. Carmella is now at -110, which is up from -135.

Samoa Joe has moved down from +400 to +320. This surprises me because, after the month Roman Reigns has had, I strongly believe he needs to go over against Joe on Sunday. They've already started to hint of a Joe versus AJ Styles program, so the he isn't going to lose anything out of a loss to Reigns. After consecutive defeats at the hands of Brock Lesnar, Reigns needs it more (I suppose if he's turning heel that he could afford another loss, though!). But that's just my opinion, the punters evidently think differently.  As a result of Joe's price moving in, Reigns has drifted out from -600 to -460.

Big Cass was +320 for his match with Daniel Bryan. He's now down to +220. Bryan has moved out to -300 from -460.

The markets I didn't mention are all showing the same pricing as yesterday.

Prices correct as of 8AM BST today. The latest can be found under 'Other Sports' on the 5Dimes Website.

  1. Im shocked that AJ is the underdog. Clearly Joe is the next contender for the WWE championship as per his promo. Cant see them doing heel v heel and also the way the Nak program is progressing eels like the face should get his revenge under No DQ rules. 7/4 feels like a cracking bet.

    1. Agree with this, very well may have a go at AJ there. I think he's the likely winner.

  2. Joe is now out to +400 and may be worth a punt. Here's my thinking...

    1) They're at a bit of a crossroads with Roman Reigns. He has been made out to be an absolute joke on TV in the last month, who comes out, talks a big game, makes a bunch of excuses, and then loses in the big moments. He's had no comeback for Joe's verbal takedowns. I think there's an endgame here. With Lesnar back for the foreseeable future and Braun getting The Push, I think they're finally heading towards a Reigns heel turn. He could take another loss to Joe, snap on TV, win Money in the Bank, and take the title off either Brock or Braun.

    2) Joe was established as the next contender for the WWE title on SD this past Tuesday. They aren't going to send him into a championship feud with AJ Styles off a loss to a guy in Reigns who has done nothing but lose recently.

I know it's very possible Reigns gets a rehab win and they just ignore it on SD with Joe, and that would be in character for Vince with this bipolar Reigns push (hence the -600). But the stars are aligning for a Joe victory and that is a very savory number.

    1. Joe being put in the WWE Championship mix BEFORE Sunday is telling, imho.

    2. Would you go for Joe at +400? It's just such a good number.

    3. No, I think Reigns has to win so not attracted by the price on Joe.

    4. So you believe Joe being established as a challenger before the match is a way to protect him from a defeat on the PPV? That does make sense, at least in their eyes.

    5. At the risk of reading too much into it, I found myself wondering why they would do that on a go-home show when they could have done it on the post-Backlash Smackdown.
