More About Brock

It has been a day since I wrote about Brock Lesnar and the UFC. I have some more about the situation to ramble about today.

In the post, I mentioned that I had finally started to come around to the idea that Lesnar won't be on the SummerSlam 2018 card. This was due to the report, made by Jeremy Botter, that Lesnar would challenge Daniel Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight Title at Madison Square Garden in November.

There are futher reports - from other insiders - suggesting the fight will take place in 2019, so I am kind of back into the middle ground where I have no guess as to what is going to happen with Lesnar and SummerSlam.

Dave Meltzer - on yesterday morning's edition of Wrestling Observer Radio - was confident that Lesnar's current deal with Lesnar is up in August. That would suggest that the Universal Champion would have to be at SummerSlam. Unless, of course, there is something in the deal where it's for one more match, as Meltzer suggested in the second Observer show of the day, and that it will be when Vince McMahon makes the call.

The fact that the multi-person match for Extreme Rules - where the winner was meant to have faced Lesnar for the championship at SummerSlam - was changed could point to Lesnar not being on the August 19th card.

I'll be surprised if WWE doesn't mention what happened on Saturday night during tonight's episode of Raw. The company has already written an article about Lesnar and Cormier on its website. Lesnar's 'Ultimate Opportunities' have been part of the Roman Reigns wanting a rematch against Brock Lesnar storyline, so Lesnar flirting with UFC will fit the story.

Before I close, I want to share a speculative punt I've placed yesterday when I was handicapping the many ways this could go.

This isn't a 'tip'. It's an idea that I came up with and I thought I'd throw it out there. It has a flaw that I'll get to at the end.

You know when Lesnar finally does come back to TV? It'll be obvious he's going to be there to drop the Universal Championship at whatever PPV is coming up. When thinking it through yesterday, I came up with the least obvious way to have Lesnar drop the title.

Have Braun Strowman cash in his Money in the Bank contract on Raw.

It would be a surprise because of the fact that Lesnar hasn't worked a television match since his second outing with WWE. Also, it would allow Lesnar to work something extremely short to avoid any sort of injury in preparation for his fights, if WWE wants him to not be the titleholder when he steps into the octagon.

With all that said, it still leaves Roman Reigns with three failed attempts to defeat Lesnar with no comeback in sight and this would contradict the story that is seemingly being told on TV right now.
