This news has obviously explained away why the scheduled multi-person match at Extreme Rules to determine a challenger for Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2018 was nixed.
I'm now obviously in the camp that believes Lesnar will not be at SummerSlam after all. I wrote a post a week ago where I tried to balance ideas about Lesnar's SummerSlam status and it's going to be interesting to see how things pan out now as he'll likely still be Universal Champion when the show ends on August 19th.
Lesnar not being at SummerSlam would also mean that Braun Strowman's Money in the Bank cash-in will take place far later than many people thought. If the Cormier fight happens, then it's unlikely we'll see Lesnar for quite some time.
On a side note - I placed a wager on Lesnar to beat Mark Hunt and to then for his next fight to be for the UFC Heavyweight Championship with Paddy Power back in 2016. The wager was voided following Lesnar's suspension and the result having been changed to a no contest. I tried making a case back then that the bet shouldn't have been voided due to reversals not being refunded to customers if they had placed bets on the match result market on the night.
I'm even more irked right now as I thought there was a good chance his next fight would have been for the title.
