SummerSlam's MITB Match And How It Affects Some Betting Markets

On this week's episode of WWE Raw, a SummerSlam match between Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens was set up with the stipulation that - should Strowman lose the bout - Owens will become Mr. Money in the Bank.

The stip has played a part in the adjustment of some of Kambi's betting markets that were republished today.

For starters, the oddsmakers have changed one of the Money in the Bank cash-in specials where bettors can gamble on the show the contract is cashed in.

When I last wrote about this particular market earlier this week, I noted that the 'Raw/Smackdown' selection had dropped from 4/1 into 3s. It has now landed at 2/1.

As a result, the option to bet on the cash-in occurring during a PPV, or any other kind of event other than on the main TV programmes, has been increased from 1/5 to 1/3.

The thing about the SummerSlam stipulation now makes Braun Strowman look like a fool if he doesn't cash-in on a Raw before SummerSlam and loses his right to an instant title shot when he meets Owens on August 19th.

The only other Money in the Bank special that's up as of the time of writing is one where clients can place bets on the cash-in being a fruitful one or not for the briefcase carrier.

This too has changed since Monday with the option to bet on an unsuccessful cash-in having been cut slightly from 6/1 into 11/2. I suppose this has more to do with Kevin Owens now potentially being the person who cashes in.

A successful cash-in is still a favourite. However, it has drifted out from 1/16 into 1/14.

Owens has been reinserted in a market which will pay out on whoever is holding the Universal Championship at the end of SummerSlam.

He's 12/5, but you could have found him at 33/1 between June 23rd and 27th.

As you can see, Brock Lesnar's odds to successfully retain the strap have fallen. They're now at 6/4. Earlier in the week, he was out at 7/2.

Lesnar's official opponent for the evening - Roman Reigns - has increased slightly by moving to 5/4 from EVS.

Braun Strowman - who threatened Lesnar, Reigns and Bobby Lashley with a SummerSlam cash-in during his promo on Monday's Raw, which could be read as a sign he isn't going to cash-in on August 19th - has moved up from 4/6 to 6/4.

The aforementioned Lashley, who lost in his quest to become number one contender on the same episode of Raw, has been taken off the board. The last price I have is 7/2.

Owens has been slashed from 25/1 into 7/4 in the market where customers can predict who will succeed Brock Lesnar as WWE Universal Champion.

The other potential winners, if Lesnar is dropping the title next month, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman remain as favourite and second-favourite respectively. Reigns is unchanged at 4/6 while Strowman has climbed a step up from 5/4 into 6/4.

For Owens to be the winning selection, he would have to obviously cash-in on Lesnar or do a repeat of Seth Rollins' cash-in at WrestleMania 31 by making the main event a triple threat and pin Reigns. I don't think either is viable considering the story - since April - has been all about Reigns not having conquered The Beast on three occasions.

WWE Universal Champion After Brock Lesnar Betting

As I predicted on Tuesday morning, after watching Raw, seeing Kevin Owens potentially being Mr. Money in the Bank has led to some conclusions being drawn to the Hell in a Cell release that was sent across to promote the September PPV with Roman Reigns versus Kevin Owens being listed as one of two matches (the other being AJ Styles versus Samoa Joe).

The thing that makes me believe Strowman is keeping the briefcase is that he 'lost' against Owens at Extreme Rules and the company stating that the briefcase can change hands on a disqualification is being done to tease that losing the match is a strong possibility for Strowman.

There are still three weeks of Raw to make me change my mind, but - as of right now - I think the briefcase stays with Strowman.

And I'm not confident at all on there being a cash-in on August 19th.
