On last night's episode of Smackdown, The Bar progressed to the final of the tournament that was set up to determine who will face The Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam 2018 on August 19th.
The Bar will now meet The New Day.
I checked Sky Bet's website earlier today and saw the market had been installed. I backed The Bar when they were 6/4.

They have since been cut to 11/8 with The New Day being moved up from 1/2 to 8/15 in this period.
As I wrote in a post from Friday, I had a bet on The Bar to walk out of Brooklyn with the straps despite not being completely confident that they will. I was, however, confident that The Bar will be challenging on the night, so I was glad to see this market today.
The reasoning behind why I think The Bar will win the tournament is because they haven't been pushed since moving over to Smackdown during the spring, this is the first time the team has been on TV in ages and - most importantly - we had seen The New Day and The Usos in tag team competition with the current titleholders numerous times and The Bar would be fresh opponents.
The obvious thing that could work against my theories is it would mean a heel team .vs. heel team dynamic if we get the match.
Last night's Smackdown also saw Charlotte Flair added to the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship match.
Sky Bet has voided wagers on the previously announced match and now has Flair at 7/4, Becky Lynch at 11/8 and Carmella at 2/1.
Another SummerSlam market - that was published yesterday morning - has WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Cedric Alexander an 8/13 favourite to overcome Drew Gulak (6/5).
On Carmella again after my original bet was void. I'm more confident on her now.
ReplyDeleteAlways favour the heel's in Triple Threat matches.
I think Carmella steals a pin like Alexa Bliss does in these type of matches and either Becky or Charlotte turns heel.
What do you think David.
Also The Bar 11/8 to beat The New Day is an easy bet imo. We have seen Bludgeon Brothers vs The New Day multiple times in the past.
I don't watch 205Live so I have no idea on that match.
I'm not so confident on Carmella winning with Charlotte now in the mix.
DeleteBecky turning heel makes the most sense after how she reacted to things last night.
I think Charlotte turning is the most likely. Problem I have with Becky turning is that she is so over she may even get cheered as a heel like AJ did.
DeleteMaybe Charlotte has the match won but Carmella steals a pin on Becky Lynch and then Charlotte snaps and attacks Becky. After all Becky didn't want Charlotte to beat Carmella so they could do the whole Becky turned her back on me...I didn't turn my back on Becky storyline.
Becky would get cheered if she turned on Charlotte imo whilst Charlotte would get heel heat very easily by turning on Becky.
We'll see.
Delete50/50 though at least the booking has made the match interesting.
DeleteThey will das Asuka to The Match next week, Carmella steals the win. The perfect way to continue Beckys Title Bunt without eating the Pin. Turn? No, SD has enough heels and WWE wants MMA vs. WWE Horsewomen at some point.
ReplyDeleteThey were teasing Becky being annoyed at Charlotte being added last night. That wasn't unintentional.
DeleteThe Horsewomen vs Horsewomen thing isn't going to happen for ages imo.
I don't think Asuka should be added as the story is now about Becky and Charlotte with Carmella and the title in the middle.
DeleteUnintentional for the PPV Match, but i don't see a turn. Becky is too over, People would not boo her and if Charlotte turns she must win the title, but will not happen. She will win already the Rumble Match.
DeleteCharlotte could be Smackdown Champion and Ronda wins the Rumble as a way to get Ronda over to Smackdown for next year's move to Fox, though.
Delete^ Unless Ronda is Raw champ come January obviously.
DeleteHere's the thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's very well documented that we are getting Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania.
Ronda will beat Alexa before Survivor Series more than likely at SummerSlam. There is a 0% chance Alexa comes out of this feud on top.
If Charlotte Flair wins the triple threat match then it could result in Rousey vs Flair at Survivor Series I don't see WWE doing this match at Survivor Series It's too high profile for Survivor Series.
I think this is the main event for next year's WrestleMania.
If Charlotte was to win the triple threat then she would have to drop the title fairly quickly to avoid the Rousey match so I'm quietly confident Charlotte doesn't leave Brooklyn as Champ.
There are 3 PPV events before Survivor Series
HIAC which Carmella would get a rematch if she was to lose at SS - No title change
Throw away house show in Australia like the GRR - No title change.
Evolution - Charlotte would have to drop the title here as I said earlier about avoiding the Rousey match. To me this title reign sounds very uninspiring and I don't see the point in it.
I think Rousey destroys Bliss within a couple of minutes at SummerSlam. Charlotte wins the Rumble considering she didn't take part in it last year and that's how we get Rousey vs. Flair at Mania.
So the triple threat comes down to Carmella and Becky imo.
Darryl,
DeleteThere's far too much fantasy booking in some of your comments. We only really need A and Z in how you think things will play out. Not every other letter in-between.
Plus, it isn't 'well documented' that we're getting Flair vs Rousey. It's all speculation at this point.
I always think long term regarding WWE lol.
ReplyDeleteSome might say that's more than WWE does!
