On last night's episode of Smackdown, the original match - AJ Styles versus Daniel Bryan - took place with Styles retaining the strap. Post-match saw Samoa Joe attack both wrestlers. Later in the show, Paige granted Styles' wish to defend his belt against Joe in Saudi Arabia.
The boomakers have installed Samoa Joe as a 9/2 underdog. A winning wager on Styles will pay out at 1/8.
Considering this is a late change due to Daniel Bryan refusing to travel to Saudi Arabia for the event, it's highly unlikely that Joe will walk out of this stop-gap match as the victor.

I would be extremely surprised if Joe won, considering he is only there to make up for the lack of DB not wanting to wrestle at Crown Jewel.
ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder if DB was ever supposed to beat AJ though..
Jordan No, DB was always scheduled to lose.
DeleteJoe ain't winning it. Like David said, it's a last minute change which means the original planned winner will win. This situation is exactly like Brock - Styles - Mahal last year.
DeleteWe dont know if he was always supposed to lose though. Suppose time will tell if they suddenly start back on the build up of AJ vs DB after crown jewel.
DeleteI think Bryan was going to lose, but I doubt it was going to be the way he lost last night.
DeleteInteresting times now. If Bryan refused to go to Saudi, what happens in April if WWE does another show around the same time as the company did this year? Should cast some doubt over him being strapped up in my opinion..
