Kambi's 2019 Royal Rumble WON Star Rating Markets Published

The oddsmakers from Kambi have released their Wrestling Observer Newsletter star ratings markets for tomorrow night's WWE Royal Rumble PPV.

As per usual, there's a variety of specials customers can wager on - the first is a market where clients can predict the exact number of stars that Dave Meltzer gives to the highest rated match of the night, a market where customers can wager on the match that is given the most stars, head-to-head specials where clients can bet on which match - out of two - earns the most amount of stars and finally, the famous over/under markets that are a topic of discussion leading into each PPV.

In this post, I'll point out what the odds are in each market and then share a couple of bets that I intend to place once I've finished.

Exact Star Rating Of Highest Rated Match
The bookies have priced up 'Exactly 4.75 Stars' as a 6/4 favourite in the market where clients can predict what the exact star rating of the highest rated match is in Dave Meltzer's review of the show.

Last month - at WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs - Daniel Bryan .vs. AJ Styles was match of the night. It received four-and-three-quarter stars. It seems the oddsmakers are expecting close to this kind of result with the two wrestlers in a rematch this weekend. It won as a 9/4 second-favourite back then.

Highest Rated Match Of The Night
Unsurprisingly, the Daniel Bryan .vs. AJ Styles rematch is favourite to be the match of the night when the review is published. It is currently 7/10.

Head-to-Heads
There are two markets where customers can place wagers on the match that receives the most stars over another.

The first contrasts the two women's title matches on the show. They've placed Asuka .vs. Becky Lynch (Smackdown Women's Championship) at 3/5 over Ronda Rousey .vs. Sasha Banks (6/4). If both matches earn the 'Same Amount', those betting on that option will win at 9/4.

The Men's Royal Rumble (13/10) is up against Brock Lesnar .vs. Finn Balor for the WWE Universal Championship (7/10). The option to bet on both matches earning the exact amount will pay out at 43/20.

Over/Under Lines
Every single match that is currently scheduled for tomorrow night has been given a predicted star rating line that has been set by the oddsmakers. Customers have the option to bet whether Dave Meltzer rates the particular match over, under or exactly on the estimate.

The lines are:

Cruiserweight Championship - 3.75 Stars
US Championship  - 3.25 Stars
Raw Women's Championship - 3.75 Stars
Smackdown Tag Team Championship - 3 Stars
Smackdown Women's Championship - 4 Stars
Universal Championship - 4.25 Stars
WWE Championship - 4.5 Stars
Men's Royal Rumble - 4 Stars
Women's Royal Rumble - 3 Stars

Thoughts and Bets
I was interested to see what the line would be for Ronda Rousey .vs. Sasha Banks. I've seen pictures of Sasha at WWE's Performance Center last week, so this had me wondering whether they had Ronda there with her to prepare for the match. When I saw the line at 3.75, I decided not to bother betting because I could see it getting 'Exactly' that amount. I rarely bet on the 'Exactly' numbers.
The WWE Championship match at 4.5 is interesting because the bookies have estimated the highest rated match of the night to get 4.75 and - if any bout is getting 4.75 - you'd expect it to be the one with Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles. It's another one where I think it could hit exactly, so have decided to avoid it but thought that the O/U line versus the 'Exact Star Rating' favourite was worth pointing out.
I have a feeling the Women's Royal Rumble will be better than last year's. It received 3.25 stars in 2018 and the line being a quarter of  a star shorter means I'm keen to have a wager on it.
The line that stood out the most to me was the one for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship. Three might be a bit low, so will bet on the over.

The markets are found alongside other Royal Rumble specials on the websites that publish Kambi's WWE odds. An example can be found below.

  1. I have a feeling that Sasha vs Ronda can be as good as Charlotte vs Ronda

    Could be 4 or 4.25

What do you think will be MOTN ?

I'm going with Brock vs Balor since Brock's best matches are with smaller guys

    1. You could be right about Ronda/Sasha but, I was looking to go over 3.5. Seeing 3.75 scared me off a bit.

I'm not sure about MOTN because I have far too many matches going by no contest and DQ (I know they all won't). I suppose if I were to be pushed, I'd go for the safe option and say Bryan/AJ because I don't know what kind of match Lesnar and Balor will have as it's screaming out to me that Strowman is going to involve himself in it.

    2. The only way i can see Brock vs balor having a DQ finish is if Balor comes out as Demon. Otherwise, i think it's a clean finish

I'm pretty sure AJ vs Bryan won't have DQ finish since Royal Rumble is the end of this feud

Got a feeling Becky vs Asuka might have DQ finish to protect Becky

  2. Is there a betting market for the
    Iron-woman?
