Wrestling news websites have been reporting on there being a 'Big Surprise' that might happen tomorrow night at the Royal Rumble after the WrestleVotes Twitter account teased something.
The tweet reads:
A 'big' surprise may be in the plans Sunday at the Rumble, one that's being kept from nearly everyone. However, I'm not going to leak it. Two reasons, 1. if it happens, everyone should have a genuine reaction to the moment and 2. WWE doesn't even know if it's going to work out yet.
The account returned with a second tweet to eliminate Kenny Omega from the equation.
I'm going to guess three things. In no particular order.
The Rock Wins The Men's Royal Rumble
Actually, this would be very far on my guess list if I were to think of possible things WrestleVotes is riddling in his tweet. As I've written in recent weeks - and also this week - The Rock has a busy filming schedule. Jumanji has begun shooting and he is still working on Hobbs and Shaw. It was revealed yesterday that Roman Reigns is playing Hobbs' brother in the movie and would explain why Reigns has been seen in Hawaii. I know that the previous Jumanji film was filmed in Hawaii as well, so Rock could be playing double-duty in the fiftieth state. Getting to Arizona from Hawaii to work the Rumble isn't the problem - it's the schedule and risk of injury that could delay production on all of his current and upcoming projects.
Becky Lynch Wins The Men's Royal Rumble
A couple of weeks ago, I read a tweet from the Paddy Power account which joked that Theresa May has picked Braun Strowman to win the Rumble. I scrolled through the replies and noticed a tweet saying something along the lines of 'Becky Lynch is winning the men's Royal Rumble'. After reading it I thought 'Oh god, that would play into her being 'The Man', but I didn't think any more of it really. There seems to be a few more people who think this is what will play out because the Sky Bet RequestABet page been offering Becky winning the men's Rumble for a few days.
If Charlotte wins the women's match and Becky wins the men's match, you get to the triple threat match that way. Then, you can determine the challengers to the two men's titles at Elimination Chamber and FastLane.
Roman Reigns Wins The Men's Royal Rumble
This would be a surprise to many in attendance and receive a 'genuine reaction' as is teased in WrestleVote's tweet. To fantasy book this - you then have Reigns choosing to face Brock Lesnar/Finn Balor or AJ Styles/Daniel Bryan and my guess - if this plays out - is he'll pick Daniel Bryan. Reigns has said in interviews as late as last year that Bryan is one of his dream WrestleMania opponents.
Those are the three that I could come up with. However, you'd think that - if one is to happen - WWE would surely know if it's going to work out or not by now.
I have mentioned a couple of times, I can genuinely see Roman reigns coming back now cancer-free and winning it.
ReplyDeleteGreat headlines.
Great reactions.
Great push for Reigns.
Can you think of anything other than those three? I know I've been saying it for months but the joint-winners in the women's match wouldn't be a 'big surprise', would it?
DeleteI meant the three things I put above, not the three things you wrote.
DeleteWell if we are throwing "big surprises" out there, the only other thing I could think of is CM Punk returning.
DeleteBut it's extremely unlikely..
.. but that also makes me think how big it would be.
Didn't think of him! It's five years today since he left.
DeleteBatista?
ReplyDeleteThat would make sense out of the wording about WWE not being sure it would work as he's lined up to film Dune and a Fantasy Island movie.
DeleteWrestlevotes said wwe don't know if it works out
ReplyDeleteRoman winning rumble will definitely work out but roman has a movie schedule
Hobbs and Shaw has been filming since the autumn. Most of the shooting was done in the UK, but now filming in Hawaii. I am guessing it's the last part of the schedule because Johnson is also doing Jumanji right now.
DeleteI mean there's also the chance that Ronda could lose tomorrow night. I mean its astronomically unlikely, but it would be the peak WWE thing to do. It doesn't specify if the surprise is in the Rumble itself. Just that something shocking will happen at the show.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I guess. Or Balor beats Lesnar.
