The Rumble Matches
Both hosts talked about the Rumble matches, but not much was said about the lines. For what it's worth, the men's Rumble has a line of four stars while the ladies' match has three.
Cruiseweight Championship
Dave Meltzer thought that the Cruiserweight Championship being placed in one of the two opening matches of the night, in a stadium, makes it tough for them to beat the line of 3.75 stars.
US Championship
Rusev's US Championship defence against Shinsuke Nakamura has a line of 3.25 stars. Meltzer stated that he felt the line seemed about right, but Alvarez thought that - as it's also on the Kick Off - that the line could be too high.
Raw Women's Championship
Dave thought that the line of 3.75 was reasonable considering the paricipants in the match - Ronda Rousey and Sasha Banks. He went on to state that Ronda has a good track record of pulling out great results in big matches. Sasha is also great in big matches, so wouldn't be surprised if they beat the line.
Initially, Bryan felt that they'll do lower than the line, but then looked up the Rousey versus Nia Jax line of 3.75 and reasoned that Sasha is a better worker than Jax so it's possible it could beat it.
Smackdown Tag Team Championship
Meltzer felt that the line of three stars for The Bar .vs. The Miz and Shane McMahon was about right. However, he went on to state that a part of him feels it could do worse than that. He believes there's a chance this will be the worst match on the card but Shane is likely to do something crazy and The Bar is a good team.
If you read yesterday's post, I pointed out that I had bet on this one to go over because I am confident that Shane will do something crazy because they teased it on Tuesday with Cesaro escaping an elbow on the table. I think the other three guys can help it sneak past the line, but we'll see.
Smackdown Women's Championship
Dave pointed out that the line of four for Asuka .vs. Becky Lynch was 'reasonable' when considering that Lynch is, as of right now, the most over performer on the entire roster.
Universal Championship
Another line that Dave felt wasn't unreasonable, despite initially sensing it was a little too high, is the 4.25 for Finn Balor's title challenge against Brock Lesnar. Meltzer pointed out that Lesnar likes working matches against smaller guy.
WWE Championship
The WWE Championship match - which will be contested between Daniel Bryan and his challenger, AJ Styles - has a line of 4.5 stars. Dave seems to think the match has the potential to beat it and pointed out that Bryan and Styles are sure to be given enough time, enjoy working together and might be motivated to be the best match of the entire weekend. Meltzer doesn't know if this will be the best match of the weekend, but feels Bryan and Styles will fight to try and be it.

AJ and Bryan got 23 minutes at TLC. I don't think they will get same amount of time
ReplyDeleteAs for Brock - Balor, i don't think it will be as good as Brock's matches with Styles and Bryan because of time and Balor isn't as good as Styles and Bryan
