Andre Battle Royal Betting: 2 Weeks Later

It has been exactly two weeks since the oddsmakers from Sky Bet began to take wagers on this year's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner. Within those fourteen days, one wrestler has found himself move from 100/1 into a favourite.

Curt Hawkins, who - as noted - started off at 100s is now being offered at 4/1 to win the annual battle royal at WrestleMania 35.

Seeing Hawkins at the top of the list of potential winners doesn't really come as a surprise to me with the benefit of hindsight. Hawkins' current storyline has been all about how he has a terrible win-loss record, so I can understand why some wrestling fans think there's a chance he'll end up getting a win at WrestleMania by overcoming the field in the battle royal.

For what it's worth, I thought there was a chance that Hawkins' win would be alongside Zack Ryder in a WWE Raw Tag Team Championship match. Some Sky Bet customers appear to be on the same wavelength as me in regard to this idea as Hawkins and Ryder have descended from 12/1 into 6/4 since the 'WWE Raw Tag Team Champions After The Revival' market was published a day following Dawson and Wilder won the straps.

Back to the Hawkins and his odds in the Andre the Giant market. Here's how I've kept track of how his price has decreased since the market was opened on Saturday February 16th.

Curt Hawkins' Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Odds

As you can see, the wrestler moved into favouritism by February 23rd after being cut from 14/1 into 11/1. He was then moved to 4/1 by this past Wednesday.

Coincidentally, when the market was initially published, it was was a different 'Kurt' who was the punters' favourite.

Kurt Angle had started at 20/1, but was moved to 14s within the first hour. As of today, the WWE Hall of Famer has drifted out to 25/1.

As I pointed out a couple of weeks ago - historically, the early betting favourites to win the Andre the Giant Battle Royal have never won the match.
