Dave Meltzer has kind of expanded on what appeared in yesterday's update on this morning's edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
Here's the gist.
- Cena is 'pretty much on the show in a match'
- Dave does not know what the match is. I think this is important because I think there's a chance certain websites might take something Dave mentions later in the segment as fact.
- It was reiterated to him yesterday afternoon that there is a plan in place and it is not a match against Kurt Angle
- It isn't The Undertaker. Taker is apparently working the Saudi show, though (Meltzer reported this a while ago)
- It's also 'definitely not R-Truth' in a singles match, but Meltzer does not totally rule out R-Truth and Cena teaming up
- Meltzer mentions 'Maybe it's Lars' but goes on to say there has been no angle to set a Cena .vs. Sullivan match (it was one of the original plans for the PPV). He then goes on to say that Triple H - in the NXT conference call - did not give a clear answer when asked about Sullivan's status with the company but Meltzer felt that Hunter strongly hinted that Sullivan wasn't done with the company
So, make of that what you will.

Have an even better idea for Cena based on this and the Andre list. Rusev and Nakamura vs. R-Truth and Cena.
ReplyDeleteMeltzer didn't rule them out from being a team (see above), so it's possible.
DeleteWWE putting those teams in a multi-team Smackdown Tag Team Championship match wouldn't surprise me as well, tbh.
DeleteOnly reason why I somewhat doubt the Smackdown Tag Team Title match is that the Hardys are listed for Andre. Granted, card subject to change and everything, but the Hardys are the one team the Usos have mentioned specifically as opponents.
DeleteHardys weren’t involved in the tag gauntlet on Tuesday and I think what will happen is Usos have to compete against those teams in a multi-person as a receipt from Vince for forfeiting to Woods and Big E.
DeleteThat’s where I have Nakamura and Rusev pegged, so after you brought up R-Truth and Cena against them that’s why I suggested that’s where they could fit.
This is obviously IF Cena and Truth are teaming.
