With the Money in the Bank briefcase having been returned to The Miz on the December 28th episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, the oddsmakers from Kambi have published brand new MITB markets for the Briefcase's '2nd Reign'.
Just like previous times Kambi has created Money in the Bank specials, customers can gamble on things like whether the cash-in will be successful, when the contract will be executed and which champion will be challenged by the briefcase holder.
The 'Will The Cash-in Be Successful?' proposition has 'No' as a 3/5 favourite while the 'Yes' is available at 6/5.
1/3 odds have been given to the cash-in occurring during a Pay-Per-View or another WWE Network special while 2/1 is the price for those who expect the contract's execution to happen during one of WWE's weekly TV shows - Raw, Smackdown or WWE NXT.
The 'Date of Briefcase Cash-In' market has three offerings with 'Before WrestleMania 37' an 11/25 favourite over 'After WrestleMania' (2/1) and 'During WrestleMania' (9/4).
Drew McIntyre, who was the champion challenged in the first reign of this year's briefcase (it was settled a winner because these markets are settled under 'End of Broadcast rulings so reversals, as has occurred in this storyline, are not counted), is the favourite at odds of 11/20.
The betting favourite to win this year's men's Royal Rumble, Daniel Bryan, is a 7/4 second-favourite. Sandwiched in between Bryan and the current WWE Champion - Roman Reigns (7/1) - is Edge at 4/1.
There is logic to Daniel Bryan being a second-favourite here considering there is history between he and The Miz. However, I have a feeling the contract will be cashed in at the Royal Rumble.
And here's why.
The closing scene of this week's Raw had Bill Goldberg make a return and challenge Drew McIntyre to a match - for the WWE Championship - at the Royal Rumble.
McIntyre told Goldberg that fighting him would be like fighting his own father.
Those words, used by McIntyre, stood out to me because they are kind of a big no-no in pro wrestling. By pointing out how old Goldberg is, McIntyre will gain nothing from beating him. The champion would now also look weak if he were to lose to his challenger on January 31st.
It was a bad line given to one of the company's most pushed and protected stars.
Or is it?
As soon as I heard the line, I immediately thought that we're getting a no contest of some sort. Thinking more, I reached the conclusion that this will be another opportunity for The Miz to cash-in and achieve something.
Protect McIntyre from beating, or losing to, someone who has now been established as an old man.
Prices correct as of when they were published (5 Jan) and at the time of writing
