Naito Out Of The G1

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Tetsuya Naito is out of the G1 Climax.

The leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon suffered a leg injury during his match against Zack Sabre Jr. on the opening night of the tournament.

As a result of Naito's departure from competition, all of the wrestlers he was scheduled to face in the remaining A Block contests have been awarded wins via forefit.

Those wrestlers will also compete in non-G1 matches on the night's they were due to meet Naito.

G1 Climax: A Block Points Following Naito's Injury

With only one night of matches completed in the block, the men who scored wins last Saturday are now on four points apiece.

G1 Climax: A Block Points Following Naito's Injury

From a betting perspective, this opens things up in the outright markets.

Naito was Kambi's favourite to win A Block. As noted, in yesterday's post, he had drifted out from 5/4 to 11/10 with Shingo Takagi moving from 19/10 into 8/5. It would now be fair to assume that Takagi will become the favourite in this market if it is republished.

Naito was the second-favourite to be the tournament winner when the market was reinstalled yesterday. His price had lowered from 3/1 into 9/4 following the opening matches.

Another market which will be affected by the injury is the one in which customers could gamble on what they believe will be the tournament final.

Kambi's 7/4 favourite to win the tournament  - Kazuchika Okada - and Naito were the 5/2 fancies to meet on October 21st. The selection had lowered from 4/1

You can see the pre-injury odds in THIS POST from yesterday.
