G1 Climax 31 Betting: Night 14

Today's round of the G1 Climax features the wrestlers in B Block. After missing Night 13, Kambi installed markets for today's match yesterday, so it's back to the regular business of sharing the early and late prices - and results - as the show is in progress.

Markets for tomorrow's round have also been published. I'll write about those once today's show has concluded. If you're reading this post after today's show, they'll already be there for you.

G1 Climax 31: Night 14

Taichi (4 points)  .vs. Tama Tonga (2 points)
The market for today's opening tournament bout - between Taichi and Tama Tonga - started off with Taichi a 1/5 favourite. However, by this morning, Taichi's odds had increased slightly to 2/7.

Tama Tonga is seemingly the bettors' pick because, even though he is the underdog, his price was lowered from 3/1 into 9/4

The betting turned out to be on the correct side because Tama Tonga was the match winner.

G1 Climax 31 - Night 14 Betting Odds

YOSHI-HASHI (4 points) .vs. SANADA (4 points)
SANADA beat YOSHI-HASHI by submission/ref stoppage in the second G1 match of the day.

The eventual winner closed as a 1/5 favourite. He had started out at 2/7.

YOSHI-HASHI entered the match as a 3/1 underdog. He was initially 9/4.

Kazuchika Okada (12 points) .vs. Chase Owens (2 points)
The post-interval match was won by Kazuchika Okada, who entered as a 1/20 favourite. He had started out at 1/16.

Chase Owens rose from 6/1 to 7/1 when Okada's price moved in this morning.

Hirooki Goto (4 points) .vs. EVIL (10 points)
EVIL has gone to twelve points in the block following this win against Hirooki Goto.

The winner entered the match as a 2/13 favourite after moving in from 1/4 earlier today. Goto was 7/2 from 5/2.

Hiroshi Tanahashi (6 points) .vs. Jeff Cobb (12 points)
Jeff Cobb continued his undefeated B Block run with a win over Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event.

The victor won as a 2/7 favourite. He had started out at 7/20 while Tanahashi was 19/10, but drifted to 9/4 this morning.

Today's show once again closed with Okada and Cobb at the top of the block as they head towards their meeting on the final B Block round next week.

B Block will resume on Thursday. It's A Block's turn tomorrow. As noted above - Kambi has released betting markets for the event. Below are the odds along with some notes.

Night 15 (A Block)
Tomohiro Ishii 1/4
Yujiro Takahashi 5/2

Ishii is on 8 points, and is therefore not completely out of the running. Takahashi - on the other hand - is on 4 and out.

KENTA 1/8
Tanga Loa 4/1

10 points are in KENTA's pocket as he attempts to match Kota Ibushi on 12 in this match. Ibushi is not in tournament action on Night 15, so I expect there to be a tie at the top of the block at the conclusion of this match. KENTA will face Ibushi on the final night of the block, so 1/8 seems the right price to beat Loa to set up a potential A Block decider with Ibushi.

Toru Yano 19/10
Zack Sabre Jr. 7/20

Yano's odds have reduced from 5/2 into 19/10 while ZSJ has moved up to 7/20 from 1/4. I have placed a wager on the underdog picking up a screwy finish as it would keep Yano technically alive with ten points going into the final night of the block (If Ishii is on 10 after beating Takahashi earlier in the night, Yano getting ten would set up a fight for 12 points between Ishii and Yano on the final night of the block). Yano winning here also keeps Sabre at 10 and still in the hunt. It would also give us a ZSJ tantrum!

Shingo Takagi 1/5
Great-O-Khan 3/1

Great-O-Khan is out of contention with eight points. This will also be his final match in tournament action as he was scheduled to face Tetsuya Naito on Night 17. Shingo Takagi is still in contention with 10 points, but I have a feeling this match could be the one which results in a tie.
