G1 Climax 31: Night 9 Betting Results

I was unable to catch night nine of the G1 Climax live this morning, but I was able to record the closing odds for the matches before they were taken down shortly before the show commenced.

When I woke up at 5:45AM BST, I visited the Kambi markets and noticed that the oddsmakers had republished the longlist in which customers could gamble on what they believe the final will be later this month.

This would have been placed back online sometime after I published YESTERDAY'S UPDATE in which I wrote about the other outright markets that are available.

Looking at the market, there have been some noticeable adjustments made. The main one being that a Kazuchika Okada versus Zack Sabre Jr. final is now an 11/4 joint-favourite alongside the previous fave - Okada versus Shingo Takagi.

'Okada .vs. ZSJ' was lowered from 7/2.

One of the selections once again worth spotlighting, because it has dropped each time the market has been readjusted, is 'Kazuchika Okada .vs. KENTA'. You'll notice that it started off at 14/1, but was most recently snipped from 7/1 into 6/1. It is fourth on the list.

The other options that have shorter odds than before can be viewed in the table above. The prices in red show a reduction, those in green show an increase while the black font colour indicates no change.

I revisited the markets for one last time at 7:50AM BST and all were unchanged.

I have now been able to watch this morning's event, so here is a belated update with all of the winners - and, most importantly, their odds.

G1 Climax 31 - Night 9

Great-O-Khan (8 points) .vs. KENTA (6 points)
KENTA beat Great-O-Khan in the tournament opener. The betting market had the eventual winner as a 4/5 favourite from yesterday morning right through to its close.

The victory saw KENTA reach eight points.

G1 Climax 31 Betting: Night 9 Match Markets

Tanga Loa (2 points) .vs. Yujiro Takahashi (4 points)
Tanga Loa beat Yujiro Takahashi in the second tournament match of the night.

The eventual winner started out as a 27/25 underdog, when the market was first published yesterday morning. His odds were shortened into 19/20 by the evening.

As a result of Loa's price moving in, Takahashi - despite remaining a favourite - was moved from 4/6 to 3/4.

Tomohiro Ishii (4 points) .vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (8 points)
Zack Sabre Jr. lost to Tomohiro Ishii in the penultimate match of the night.

When the market was installed, Kambi listed Ishii as a 19/20 underdog with ZSJ at 3/4. By Saturday evening, both men were at 17/20 each.

Sabre's loss was important in the settlement of a prop bet that Kambi had for A Block.

In the prop, customers were asked whether there would be an 'Undefeated Start' with at least one wrestler winning their first five tournament matches or more.

ZSJ was the only person left in the running going into today's round. Losing in his fifth match meant that 'No' was the winning selection.

G1 Climax 31: A Block Prop Bet

Kota Ibushi (6 points) .vs. Shingo Takagi (6 points)
The market for today's main event opened with both participants at 17/20. Later that day, the odds for a Kota Ibushi victory had reduced into 7/10 while Shingo Takagi was moved up to even money.

Those who punted on Ibushi backed the right wrestler. He won to send his points tally to eight.

Today's show closed out with four people - KENTA, Kota Ibushi, Zack Sabre Jr. and Great-O-Khan - in the upper echelon of the block all with eight points each.
