I haven't watched Smackdown yet, but I've noticed that Drew McIntyre has declared his intention to challenge for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship in Cardiff at Clash at the Castle on September 3rd.
If you've read previous posts about the UK show, you'll be aware that I had pegged McIntyre as my favourite to win this year's Money in the Bank as I envisioned the Scot doing so in order to set up the title shot on September 3rd.
I had even gone so far as to suggest that McIntyre could split the titles by pointing out that his two WWE Championship wins didn't take place in front of a live audience and he was going for that title only. This would lead to him beating Roman Reigns in Wales for one of the WWE Title and keeping the Universal Championship with its current holder.
As of this morning, now that McIntyre has shown intent to be a challenger in Cardiff on WWE TV (he has already been doing so in all his media work for the event), I am not as confident in McIntyre becoming the 2022 Mr. Money in the Bank.
I have now cashed out - without profit or loss - some of my McIntyre wagers with Paddy Power, but left a couple open just in case they do go with McIntyre needing the briefcase to secure the Cardiff main event.
