Thinking About MITB 2022

I have been looking through Money in the Bank betting markets and thought I would freestyle some thoughts I have about the two matches.

The original reports for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship match at Money in the Bank stated that Roman Reigns would face Riddle. However, the most latest news about the card stated that Reigns was not booked for it and this seems to be the case now that Reigns .vs. Riddle is set to take place on this Friday's edition of Smackdown.

I am now beginning to wonder if they're pushing Reigns .vs. Riddle forward so as to have Riddle be a participant in the Money in the Bank ladder match and ultimately win it.

Riddle is the current second-favourite to win the match. He's 6/1 with Paddy Power, which is down from the 9/1 customers would have found him in February. Kambi - on the other hand - has Riddle as a joint-favourite, at a shorter 7/2. He was initially an 8/1 second-favourite when Kambi's market was first published in late-January.

Even though I am curious about Riddle, I'm still holding out hope that Drew McIntyre becomes this year's Mr. Money in the Bank.

On Friday night, he and Sheamus wrestled to a double disqualification in their Money in the Bank qualifier. Following the contest, both McIntyre and Sheamus had backstage segments with Adam Pearce asking for admittance to the ladder match.

It would not surprise me if Pearce gives McIntyre and Sheamus another opportunity to qualify only for them to draw again resulting in both men finding their way into the July 2nd contest.

As of this weekend, Kambi has placed McIntyre as one of the 7/2 joint-favourites to win the match. He was 15/1 in January.

If you're looking to back McIntyre, the value is with Paddy Power / Betfair because he is 16s there. Considering how the storyline to qualifying is going, and with McIntyre eyeing a title match in Cardiff (well, he's more or less guaranteed he'll be Reigns' opponent at Clash at the Castle), I still think he should not be overlooked to win the briefcase and use that to confirm his intention to battle Reigns on his neighbouring turf.

The other 7/2 joint-favourite, in Kambi's market, is Seth Rollins. He's a much shorter 5/6 with Paddy Power.

A strong argument could be made for a Rollins win if you consider that Cody Rhodes declared an interest in winning the briefcase in his promo on Monday night before Rollins' attack which - in storyline - was what forced Rhodes to face lengthy time on the shelf.

Rollins winning the briefcase, technically at the expense of Rhodes, is logical in a lot of ways. It would also rehab him from his three big losses to Rhodes since WrestleMania.

Another thing which made me consider Rollins as a strong favourite (even though I haven't bet on him myself) is the fact that he and his wife, Becky Lynch, apparently appear in one of the posters for the event.

WWE Money in the Bank 2022

I saw the poster on Twitter over the weekend and it is on the Wikipedia page for the event, so I am close to trusting that it is genuine. If so, it should get people to ponder the possibility of Rollins and Lynch winning their respective ladder matches to become Mr and Mrs Money in the Bank.

It would suit both of their wacky characters.

From a betting perspective, Lynch is a favourite to win the women's ladder match. She's 7/4 joint-fave, alongside Alexa Bliss, in Paddy Power's market and is at the top - with a price of 21/10 - in Kambi's.

Earlier in the year, Lynch would have been found at longer odds due to her being a champion at the time the markets were created. For example, Kambi listed her at 17/2.

Just like with Rollins, I don't have any bets on Lynch winning the women's ladder match. My wagers have sided with Lacey Evans and Shayna Baszler.

Evans has already qualified. I gambled on Baszler because I believed they have an easy-to-tell story with Baszler and Ronda Rousey being friends. A way to kickstart their feud is through an attempted cash-in. Having Rousey currently in a program with Baszler's ally - Natalya - has only strengthened my confidence that Rousey .vs. Baszler could be on the horizon.

Whether it's done via a cash-in is another thing, though.
