G1 Climax 33: Block And Outright Winner Odds Update For July 25/26

BetOnline's oddsmakers republished their Block and Outright Winner markets for the NJPW G1 Climax 33 tournament last night.

I have updated all of the tables I have used to following the adjustments and will share with you everything that has changed. I'm going to focus mainly on the selections that have shortened, but everything is recorded in the tables.

A Block Winner
The early favourite to win A Block - SANADA - is firmly in charge of this division of the tournament.

After beating second-favourite Kaito Kiyomiya yesterday, the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion's price was slashed from -500 into -2,000.

As a result, Kiyomiya's odds - as the second-best - have doubled from their previous number of +150.

Chase Owens, who is scheduled to wrestle SANADA in Osaka on August 5th (the final night for A Block), has dropped into +1,600 from +2,500

B Block Winner
Kazuchika Okada remains a favourite to be the B Block winner.

As you'll see, in the table below, Okada had started out at -200 on June 11th. That price was shortened to -300 a little over a month later and is now down to -500.

Will Ospreay, who is a -140 favourite to beat Okada in their tournament match tomorrow, remains in second-place in the wagering. His price had moved out from +100 to +200 on July 17th.

C Block Winner
David Finlay's run of zero losses (until today?) has seen him remain BetOnline's favourite to be at the peak of C Block when all of the round-robin matches have concluded.

Finlay was -300 when the market first opened last month, but is now at -500.

The only other selection with shorter odds is Tama Tonga, who will meet the block favourite today. His price is now +300 from +500.

Tonga is one of three wrestlers at 2-1 (6 Points) the others are EVIL and Eddie Kingston. EVIL has stayed at +300 and Kingston has remained at +400. When it comes down to any form of tiebreakers, it's worth pointing out that Finlay has a win over EVIL and EVIL has one over Kingston.

I sense that Tama Tonga could go over today to have the top portion of the group on six points apiece.

D Block Winner
When BetOnline released a market for the D Block, the favourite was Zack Sabre Jr. That was unsurprising considering the bookmakers had the British wrestler as the outright favourite.

Both ZSJ and Jeff Cobb are undefeated in tournament action so far. They'll meet in today's headline match.

Cobb is currently the second-favourite after leapfrogging Tetsuya Naito. His odds have halved from the +200 they were cut into - from +350 - on July 17th.

Naito, who was -110 when the book was launched, is now in third at odds of +150.

Outright Winner
As mentioned above, Zack Sabre Jr. is undefeated so far in the tournament. That run could come to an end in today's main event against Jeff Cobb. However, for now, he remains BetOnline's +200 favourite to be this year's tournament winner.

Five wrestlers have had their odds reduced since the market was last adjusted.  They are:

Kazuchika Okada (4-0, 8 Points)
Okada is the second-favourite. His price has been trimmed from +300 into +250 following his perfect start. This could come to a stop tomorrow should Will Ospreay go over in the headline match of night nine.
It's worth considering a possibility that Kazuchika Okada .vs. Bryan Danielson could have a rematch at Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th. If this turns out to be the case, then Okada winning the G1 would be unlikely.

Jeff Cobb (3-0, 6 Points)
Jeff Cobb started out at +500 on June 4th, was cut into +300 on July 17th and is now at +250. He's up against tournament favourite - Zack Sabre Jr. - today, so a win in their match would see Cobb take charge of D Block from ZSJ.

Will Ospreay (3-0, 6 Points)
There is a chance that Will Ospreay could avenge his G1 Climax 32 final loss to Kazuchika Okada when they wrestle in their B Block match tomorrow.

As for going on and redeeming himself by winning the tournament outright, BetOnline has Ospreay at +300. That is down from the most recent +400. However, it is still up from the +200 customers would have seen him on June 4th.

KENTA (2-2, 4 Points)
KENTA opened at +1,000 in June. His price had risen to +1,400 by July 17th, but was moved into +1,200 after his 2-2 start.

Tama Tonga (2-1, 4 Points)
Tama Tonga had been +2,000 ever since the market opened. However, his price has now lowered into +1,400. Today's match against David Finlay will be important in regards to at least making the playoffs out of C Block because EVIL (also currently on 4 points) holds a tiebreaker over Tonga.

G1 Climax 33 Outright Winner Betting

I'll return in a little over an hour with a post all about today's batch of matches.

All prices were correct as of July 25th and 26th.
