The third round of this year's NJPW G1 Climax has just begun and I thought I would make note of one of the betting markets that had been available from BetOnline.
As covered in yesterday's post, the sportsbook had published match markets for all sixteen of the round matches that will play out today and on Sunday.
In today's headline match, SANADA will face Yota Tsuji in an A Block contest. When the market was first installed, BetOnline listed the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion as a -500 favourite over Tsuji's +300.
Both selections were still showing at -500 and +300 respectively each time I visited the market since Wednesday. However, when I looked over them at 7:45AM BST today, I noticed the market had been taken off the board while the seven other markets remained.
As mentioned yesterday, Tsuji lost to SANADA at Dominion last month. I surmise some may have had a wager on the result being reversed today due to the fact that all that is on the line are two tournament points.
A win for Tsuji could also set up another IWGP Heavyweight Championship title shot post-G1.
Despite me writing the above, and I could absolutely see it playing out like that, I still have SANADA winning today's match to have both he and Kaito Kiyomiya undefeated when they meet in the headliner of their night of the fourth round.
That obviously means I have Kiyomiya winning against Shota Umino today.
With that said, a loss for both Kiyomiya and SANADA today would also have them on identical points for Tuesday, so that wouldn't stun me either.
Other than SANADA .vs. Tsuji being taken off the board, the rest of BetOnline's markets for today were still showing the same pricing as Wednesday. before they were closed.
