With it now being a little under thirty-five hours before WWE SummerSlam 2023 - and also with my main focus being on the NJPW G1 Climax 33 as it pertains what I've been writing about on here - it's about time I published an update about BetOnline's WWE markets.
In today's post, I'll go through each match market that is available for tomorrow's event and point out how each selection has been faring.
Logan Paul .vs. Ricochet
When I first came across the betting market for Logan Paul .vs Ricochet, BetOnline had the former cast as a -400 favourite. Those odds declined greatly within five days because, on July 30th, I noticed a winning wager on the social media star would pay out at -1,000.
On the other side of the market, Ricochet's price had drifted out from +250 to +500. However, sometime between Monday and Tuesday of this week, the underdog's price returned to +250 forcing the bookies to place Logan Paul back to -400.
The market for Gunther's WWE Intercontinental Championship defence against Drew McIntyre appears to be one-sided because all of the adjustments that have been made to it have sided with the champion.
Gunther started out as a -500 favourite on Tuesday of last week. He was then moved into -600 by this past Sunday. That price was lowered in -800 yesterday and has since fallen once more. He currently rests at -850.
A win for the challenger was priced at +300 but has now risen to +450.
WWE Women's Championship
Asuka opened as a -120 favourite to retain her WWE Women's Championship in the triple threat match against Charlotte Flair (+175) and Bianca Belair (+250) late last month.
The titleholder was moved into -140 sometime before Sunday evening and has since dropped into -160.
As a result of the bookmakers cutting Asuka's odds, the other two participants - Flair and Belair - have risen to +185 and +400 respectively.
Shayna Baszler .vs. Ronda Rousey
With reports that Ronda Rousey is once again set to depart WWE, it was unsurprising to see that Shayna Baszler was cast as a very short favourite for their SummerSlam clash.
Back on July 18th, BetOnline offered Baszler at -2,000 to Rousey's +700. However, the first adjustment I witnessed came a couple of days later when Rousey fell into +550.
With Rousey appearing to have been backed, BetOnline moved the favourite's odds up to -1,000.
And then, by the following evening - for an unknown reason - the market was taken off the board.
Once the market returned, Rousey's odds had been snipped into +425 with Baszler at -800. A week later, the bookmakers moved Baszler and Rousey back into -1,000 and +500.
The market was rejigged overnight with Rousey once again lowered into +425 and Baszler back to -800.
When BetOnline's market for Seth Rollins' title defence against Finn Balor was created, the bookmakers listed Rollins as the favourite. Despite this, the punters sided with the challenger because Balor's odds fell from +200 into -120 over the course of twelve days.
The betting on Roman Reigns' and Jey Uso's Tribal Combat match initially saw Reigns backed from -1,000 into -5,000 across a week of wagering. This resulted in the challenger having his odds doubled from +500.
I plan to post a few more SummerSlam updates as we near the event. However, most of those updates are likely to use this post as a reference.
