New Road To WrestleMania 33 Markets Published

In early April, a handful of bookmakers released special WWE markets where their customers can wager on certain wrestlers winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at any point from the time the bet was placed right up to WrestleMania 33.

The brand split, and introduction of the WWE Universal Championship, has forced the betting companies to void and now recreate these 'Road to WrestleMania 33' markets.

As of this morning, there is a market where clients can punt on wrestlers winning either the World Title or Universal Championship. As well as that, there's an opportunity to punt on some head-to-heads.

The 'Listed Participant To Win Either Of The Listed Titles (Universal and World Championships) Between Time Of Bet Acceptance And The End Of The Specified Event (WrestleMania 33)' market has AJ Styles at the top as a 1/20 favourite. The list is relatively short. All of the runners are below:

As noted, there are four head-to-head matchbet markets where customers can wager on either - or neither - of two listed wrestlers winning one of the top two titles first from the moment the bet is accepted right up to the conclusion of WrestleMania 33. The matchbets on offer are: Roman Reigns versus Seth Rollins, John Cena .vs. Brock Lesnar, Bray Wyatt .vs. Cesaro and John Cena .vs. Randy Orton.

Roman Reigns .vs. Seth Rollins
The oddsmakers have put Seth Rollins down as a 3/5 favourite. Roman Reigns is 6/4 and the 'Neither Win Title' option is 7/2.

What I would pick: I'm leaning mildly on the 'Neither'. This is mainly because I have an opinion that Kevin Owens should keep the Universal Championship right up to whenever Finn Balor is ready to regain it.

Seth Rollins will be tied to Kevin Owens for the time being, but I think the end result will be a HHH versus Rollins match at next year's WrestleMania, so can see Triple H being a thorn in Rollins' side as he challenges for Owens' title.

John Cena .vs. Brock Lesnar
John Cena has been given 7/5 to win a title ahead of Brock Lesnar (2/1). The 'Neither Win Title' selection will pay out at even money.

What I would pick: First, I would discount Brock Lesnar. He could potentially be gone from TV until 2017. Then there's John Cena who will be gone filming American Grit for a few months. However, if AJ Styles is the champ upon Cena's return, there's a good chance they have him get a win back by claiming the title. Styles has been bragging about beating Cena at SummerSlam, so - even though Styles has moved into a new feud with Dean Ambrose - they're setting up Styles getting his come uppance at the hands of Cena. It boils down to whether the company decides to put the belt back on Cena once he's returned.

Bray Wyatt .vs. Cesaro
Bray Wyatt is 2/1, Cesaro is 5/1 and 'Neither' is 33/100.

What I would pick: It has to be 'Neither', right? If Dean Ambrose manages to get out of his feud with AJ Styles with his WWE Championship, an argument could be made that Wyatt is the next person in line. I'm of the opinion that Styles will claim the title, though. Therefore, it's 'Neither'.

John Cena .vs. Randy Orton
The traders have picked John Cena at EVENS, the 'Neither' is EVENS and Randy Orton is 3/1.

What I would pick: This might contradict, to an extent, what I wrote in the John Cena .vs. Brock Lesnar matchbet market, but I am leaning on Randy Orton in this spot.
It's mainly a bet on Randy Orton being one of the top-tier babyfaces on the Smackdown brand and a feeling I have that Orton versus Styles is a destination the company is headed. I would not be surprised if they meet on the WrestleMania 33 card (I've backed Orton to win the Royal Rumble. He's 20/1 on Ladbrokes' WWE Betting Page). If John Cena doesn't beat Styles for the title, Orton is the next babyface to do so based on the current Smackdown roster.

All of these markets can be found with the bookmakers that appear on this list
