Elimination Chamber Reportedely Scheduled For February And More

Update: More information about the PPV came out after this post was published. Read more in this post.

In a post published yesterday evening, I mentioned that the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view would be returning in 2017. I didn't know if it was going to be a Raw or Smackdown show nor did I have an idea on a date. This week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that came out early this morning, has cleared everything up.

The Elimination Chamber of 2017 will return to being a February event. Dave Meltzer reports that it will be held on the 12th.

What he also noted is that it will be a Raw-branded show. Therefore, that puts paid to my theory that the Royal Rumble could be won by a member of the Raw roster and that John Cena could get his title shot against the WWE World Champion - whoever that is - via the Elimination Chamber match.

With that said, Smackdown will also host a PPV in-between Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 33 in the form of Fast Lane 2017. This will be held on March 5th.

As an aside, this news about Raw has me intrigued to see whether there will be a women's Elimination Chamber match on the card. It would not surprise me in the least considering how the most recent Hell in a Cell event featured the first-ever female HIAC match.

  1. Bit unusual that Raw will have 2 brand specific shows in a row ( granted the Rumble falls in between them ).

    1. That's what has me thinking we'll see the Raw Women's Championship in one of the Elimination Chamber matches.

    2. Its almost a certainty. Im guessing they are starting fresh in 2017 by giving Raw the 1st brand specific ppv. Makes sense when you look at it like that. If the 2017 ppv lineup is continued for years to come, itll always be easier to have a SD guy win the Rumble which, in my opinion, is why it WONT happen every time.
