WWE Champ After Mahal Update

With Smackdown due to start in a few hours, I thought I'd publish another update about the 'Champion After Jinder Mahal' market that I mentioned was available from the Kambi oddsmakers.

In yesterday's post, I noted that Baron Corbin and John Cena were 6/4 joint-favourite to be the next WWE Champion. I wrote that I could understand why the two wrestlers were at the top of the market. After all, Cena is due back from hiatus soon and Corbin is the betting favourite to become this year's Mr. Money in the Bank. However, I thought the latter was the least likely of the two because he's booked as a heel and - with Mahal also a bad guy - I can't see Corbin cashing in during Mahal's tenure as champion. This is, of course, if Corbin wins the Money in the Bank ladder match a week from Sunday.

The market has now taken into account that a babyface could be Mahal's successor.

Baron Corbin has been moved out from the aforementioned 6/4 and has been upgraded to 3/1 with John Cena now becoming a 4/5 favourite.

Randy Orton remains at 9/4, but - due to Corbin being moved out - is now in second place.

The market will more than likely close ahead of tonight's Smackdown, but will surely find its way back on the sportsbooks' websites eventually.

When available, you'll find them on the websites that appear on this list. A couple of examples can be found below:

  1. I think actually that Mahal is great choice to be cashed in. Jinder has storyline only with Orton, and if Orton will loze at MitB i dont know what will be next Mahal as champion.

Also we have a womes MitB, so that means at least one contract will be used in short time. Because two briefcases at 1 show is stupid. And then, i think Carmella will win womens MitB (and James will carry briefcase for her).

So in that way i think mens contract will be used in short time. If Corbin (if he win) cashed it on Mahal, then Mahal will not look like a jobber again. I think it can be best ending to his title reign.
