1st WWE Draft Pick Odds For July 15th

As mentioned in a post published earlier today, some companies that publish WWE betting odds have re-released their markets for this coming Tuesday's WWE Draft. In this post, I'll concentrate on the 1st Draft Pick outrights to point out where the prices have been readjusted since last weekend.

1st Overall Draft Pick

The first overall draft pick has seen two selections drop in price while five others have improved.

Firstly, the market was taken down shortly before Brock Lesnar's fight at UFC 200. I was expecting to see The Beast's odds shorten following his win over Mark Hunt, but the victory appears to have had no affect.

Dean Ambrose's price has dipped from 5/4 to EVENS. I suppose the only reason why he has been nabbed is because he is the holder of the WWE Title. For the past few weeks, I've been unsure whether Ambrose will be eligible for the draft if he's still the champ on July 19th. I am also curious to see whether there will be a controversial finish to the title  match on the July 18th edition of Raw. If the strap is held up, that would make things even more interesting going in to Tuesday's event.

It's safe to state that Raw will end in a cliffhanger of some variety in an attempt to bring in the curiosity viewers the next night.

Triple H's odds dropping from 14/1 to 10/1 is possibly a sign that the traders expect interest from punters anticipating Stephanie McMahon drafting her husband to Raw. I don't think this will happen. I expect she'll appoint him as her general manager.

As you can see in the table above - AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro and Chris Jericho have all had their prices increased since last weekend.

1st Overall Draft Pick (Excluding Roman Reigns and John Cena)

This market was priced up with both Roman Reigns and John Cena excluded. So, if - for example - John Cena is selected first and then Dean Ambrose goes second, the winning selection is Ambrose.

Here's how the odds are as of this afternoon:

Unlike in the regular 1st Overall Draft Pick market above, Brock Lesnar's price has dropped. He was 2/1 before the market was taken down in time for UFC 200 and is now down to 6/4.

Another move has seen AJ Styles drop from 14/1 to 10/1. With Styles still involved in a program with John Cena, I can absolutely see him being an early pick. Whether he's first behind Roman Reigns and John Cena is another thing, though.

Kevin Owens and Cesaro have also descended. Being picked early will do both a lot of good.

And then there are the selections that have had their prices improved since July 7th.

Dean Ambrose's number increasing slightly from 7/10 to 4/5 may have been a result of the ambiguity over his draft status as current WWE titleholder.

HHH's odds moving from 4/1 to 5/1 is intriguing considering his price dropped in the Overall Draft Pick market. I would have expected it to have gone the other way. But, like I've noted above, I have a feeling that he'll be introduced as the Raw General Manager (or Raw COO) next week.

Finn Balor moving out to 25/1 is worth a sly bet. His NXT commitments seem to have been done. I have a strong feeling he'll be brought up next week. Whether it's behind Reigns and Cena is another thing entirely, though.

Shinsuke Nakamura going from 17s to 25/1 is because he'll be tied to NXT for the near future and is unlikely to be drafted next week. I wouldn't bother betting on this option, if I were you.

And there you have it. Expect another few brand extension posts throughout the day and into the weekend.

The odds were added to my spreadsheet last night, but are still accurate as of 1pm BST today. If you'd like to wager on next week's draft, you can do so on the sportsbetting menu at LeoVegas.com and with the oddsmakers that are listed on this page.
