A pre-brand split market will be settled this coming weekend when Seth Rollins and Finn Balor do battle to become the first ever WWE Universal Champion.
Earlier this summer, the oddsmakers that appear on this list had created a market where its customers could have a punt on the wrestler that becomes the winner of a newly-created 'heavyweight title with characteristics similar to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship'.
The two names still in the running were available at relatively decent odds in hindsight. Seth Rollins was 4/1 on Thursday June 2nd. However, following bets on Brock Lesnar and Alberto Del Rio, the oddsmakers moved Seth Rollins out to 5/1 by June 12th.
Finn Balor was priced at an even better 33/1.
The soon to be introduced championship has also forced the bookmakers to void a number of 'Road to WrestleMania 33' markets where customers could bet on wrestlers becoming WWE World Champion at any point after the placement of the bet and the close of next year's WrestleMania. Per the rules, the companies had a right to cancel the bets if a new title were to be introduced at any point.
I wrote about the situation in a post published on May 26th and noted that some wagers would be either cancelled or sent to a dead-heat if Raw or Smackdown debuted a new championship.
Wondered where the £11 odd appeared from in my account on Saturday. Had bet on Lesnar not to win @ 14/1, shame but was worth a go at the time. Have reinvested in 2 or more RKOs!
ReplyDeleteSame sort of thing happened with me yesterday morning. I had Lesnar not to win as well.
DeleteI also invested it in 2 or more RKOs!
I think Brock will win but can see an RKO on the announce table happening, then another in the ring which the mega-protected beast will kick out from. Here's hoping!
