WrestleMania 33 Betting : Reports Of A UFC Figher Being Discussed For Mania Appearance

In the WWE news notes in this week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that there is talk that WWE is trying to work out a deal to get somebody from the UFC in for WrestleMania 33.

The three names that were included in this short piece are: Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor and Paige VanZant.

From a betting perspective, WWE punters can find two of the names - Rousey and McGregor - available in WrestleMania 33 specials that are dotted across betting websites.

Over the Summer, the oddsmakers from Kambi published markets where clients could bet on Conor McGregor working in WWE.

The first market gave customers the opportunity to bet on the Irishman making an appearance inside a WWE ring at any point from the moment of the wager being struck all the way to the close of WrestleMania 33.  The price opened at 2/1 and has now drifted out to 3/1.

If WWE, UFC and McGregor find a way for him to be at WrestleMania, then this would obviously pay out as a winner.

The second market opened at 5/1 and allowed punters to back McGregor to wrestle inside a WWE ring at any point from the bet being accepted right up to the close of Mania. The odds also drifted out and are now up to 6/1.

Finally, a market where clients could bet on McGregor's opponent was written up. You can view the options in the image below:

For what it's worth, in all  of the posts where I wrote about McGregor/WWE, I've mentioned having the feeling that McGregor has been winding up WWE staff and fans in order to sell his own pay-per-views rather than to get himself a WrestleMania pay day.  I think there's more value looking for Ronda Rousey to once again participate in some form at Mania.

The best price you can find on Ronda showing up at next year's event can be found over at Betfair.com where she is currently 5/2 in the WrestleMania Props specials markets.

In September, when the market was originally published, I wrote 'It happened before (Rousey appearing at Mania) and all signs point to it happening sometime again. Whether it's next year's WrestleMania is the question. I have not backed it, but would not be surprised if it's a winner.'

When they went live, Rousey's odds were 7/4. Therefore, the odds have evidently drifted out. I now believe the 5/2 is worth a speculative punt now that there are rumours of some sort of UFC involvement at next year's event and the odds moving up mean there's even more value than back in September.

The Conor odds can be found at websites like Unibet.com while the Ronda price of 5/2 to make a live in-person appearance at WrestleMania is found in the 'Special Bets' section of Betfair.com.

  1. Ive had a punt on ronda too. I can't see mcgregor having a match. Although hes a very good fighter hes quite small in height compared to most wrestlers and it would look rather daft.

Also. With WWE being in UfC good books (allowing lesnar to fight) i can totally see them letting wwe borrow Ronda again.

Im going to ask about to see if any bookies would give me odds for stephanie mcmahon to be in an official match at Wrestlemania. I reckon we could see that happening or maybe a mixed tag match.

    1. I don't think McGregor being short is that much of a problem. After all, they went with Mayweather vs Big Show in the past.

I would have agreed about the mixed tag, but - with HHH possibly up against Seth Rollins - I think Stephanie tagging with anyone other than Hunter is unlikely this time.

  2. Probably looking too much into it but Ronda recentlyish followed Bray Wyatt on Twitter and she also 'liked' one off HHH's twitter status/pics. Possible hint shes still close with WWE but probably looking too much into it
