WWE Champion After Smackdown's Debut On FOX Update For May 30

The oddsmakers from Kambi republished their markets in which customers can place wagers on who they believe will be in possession of the WWE Championship after the '1st WWE Smackdown on FOX' yesterday.

The special was first published on Saturday 18th May and, as soon as it was released, I wrote that I had placed a wager on John Cena at 6/1.

This is because I was, and I still am, of the opinion that John Cena's quest to win his seventeenth world title should be something that's done on the episode of Smackdown to generate interest for the debut show on FOX.

I was also strongly in favour of either one of the Money in the Bank cash-ins taking place on this episode.

However, I've thought of a better idea. Well, I think it is.

As I mentioned in the post from May 18th, Smackdown taking place from Los Angeles' Staples Center is important to my Cena idea because that's the very same building where he first won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XXI.

Brock Lesnar now holding the Money in the Bank briefcase now has people wondering if he'll cash in his contract on one of the Smackdown episodes once the show has moved to FOX.

Other punters, bookies and myself have been guessing there could be a cash-in on the debut episode long before that. Now, with only the men's contract in play, the chance of the guess coming is halved.

It still wouldn't surprise me if there is a cash-in on the first Smackdown on FOX, and I'll get back to that point in a moment, but what I think the company should do is have Lesnar cash in for the WWE Championship sometime before the move to FOX and then have the main event of the debut on FOX be John Cena going up against 'The Beast' for the strap.

The other scenario I am not completely keen on is having Cena win the title from somebody other than Lesnar and then have the cash-in right after Cena breaks WWE's 'record'.

I'm not down with that idea because I've always felt that the SummerSlam 2014 match between the two would lead to Cena eventually getting a decisive win over Lesnar.

As far as the market goes, Cena to be the WWE Champion following the show is now at 4/1. It had dipped to 5/1 from the aforementioned 6/1 within its first day.

Lesnar was 7/2 when the market was first published. This was a day before his Money in the Bank contract win. He was moved out to 4/1 within twenty-four hours but - now that he is the contract holder and there are people predicting he'll have his title shot on the episode of Smackdown - he is a 7/4 favourite.

The company's top guy, Roman Reigns, has moved out out to 5/2 second-favourite from 2/1.

Other selections with shorter odds than earlier this month are Aleister Black (40/1 to 33/1), Bray Wyatt (25/1 to 20/1) and current champ - Kofi Kingston (25/1 to 12/1).
