Note About Rollins' HIAC 2019 Odds

I published a post yesterday with an update about 5Dimes' WWE Hell in a Cell 2019 betting markets. There have been changes made since the post went live.

As noted yesterday, Seth Rollins' price to successfully retain the WWE Universal Championship dipped from +250 into +220 sometime before 9:00AM BST on Monday morning. However, this didn't last for long as, possibly following wager/s on Bray Wyatt at -300, the champ was pushed back out to +250 by yesterday morning.

I checked in again last night and noticed Rollins was down to +190. This decline has since continued as customers are now being offered +160 for a win by the Beast Slayer.

Date/Time
Seth Rollins
Bray Wyatt
20/9 8:00PM
+250
-350
23/9 9:00AM
+220
-300
27/9 10:30AM
+250
-350
27/9 10:00PM
+190
-270
28/9 11:30AM
+160
-210

As a result of Rollins' price closing in, the bookmakers now have his challenger as a -210 favourite. When I last wrote about this market, he was -350. He did spend some time at -270 as that was his price at 10:00PM last night.

Sky Bet still has Rollins and Wyatt at the same pricing as when I first came across the market on September 20th.

  1. I don't know why Rollins is the underdog. Taking the angles out of it where The Fiend has the upper hand, Rollins promo this week "I will survive and prevail" makes it sound like he will definitely win.

    1. I wouldn't go so far as to say 'definitely win'.

Could have read that promo to mean he was at least wasn't going to lose but also had him not flat out promise a win.

  2. But doesent that Strowman angle give it away? It's like Rollins escapes this match with the title, while Strowman and Wyatt destroy eachother. It's almost as though Wyatt seems like a filler opponent for Rollins.
It resembles alot Shawn Michaels vs Mankind, similar styles and appearances. Taker interfered, Michaels escaped with the title and Taker and Mankind went on to feud with eachother.

    1. Thing is, if you're right, then that doesn't mean Rollins 'definitely wins' does it?

  3. In theory it's too soon to beat a new character like Fiend. He loses alot of momentum if he loses at Hell in a Cell. And there isn't alot of 'outs' inside a Cell a side from a pinfall finish. So for that reason, he should win.
But then you are also probably booking a Champion vs Champion match for Survivor Series, and Lesnar will probably be the heel champion, on the other side by that point. So then you are going with a heel vs heel match with Lesnar having to be protected for his character to work.
So, that Champion vs Champion match would be the only reason why I wouldn't put the belt on Wyatt.
But then again if I keep Rollins as champion, it would be a waste of the interpromotional theme of the Survivor Series ppv to put him against Lesnar in a Champion vs Champion match.
And with Rollins gimmick being the fighting Champion, he would be the suitable guy that I would want to put in a Champion vs Champion match.
I think Lesnar beeing in this WWE champion position for the Champion vs Champion match, shuts down alot of possibilities.
Rollins vs Reigns would be good, but if I'm the Booker I'm thinking Reigns going into Wrestlemania as the babyface challenger would be a possibility that I would look to explore.

    1. This is IF they're doing champion versus champion thing so soon after splitting the rosters.

  4. Well if you look on the All state arena website they were advertising an outdated Raw vs Smackdown interpromotional match, so hopefully there will be an interpromotional theme.

    1. Will have to see, but my rule of thumb is not to invest too much into information that's sent out that far in advance.

Plus things have evidently changed since that was sent out.

  5. While we are talking about The Fiend, do you think they may just be using him as a Halloween heel type character. They book him against Rollins at HIAC and then Fiend goes on to face Taker at Crown Jewel where he is booked to lose then takes some time off and by the Royal Rumble they create new Firefly videos and then bring back Fiend as a babyface?

    1. I think he's more long-term than that.

Safe to bet that he's going to make a fair bit of money from merchandise sales for Halloween. Well, I hope he does.
