How Kambi's AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Star Ratings Markets Will Be Settled

The issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, with Dave Meltzer's review of AEW Full Gear 2021, was published this morning.

Now that the star ratings for each of the matches on the card have been confirmed, the oddsmakers from Kambi will now settle the Observer-themed markets that were available leading into the show.

The main event - which saw Adam 'Hangman' Page beat Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship - was the match which received the highest praise in Meltzer's review garnering five-and-a-half stars.

This result meant that the Over/Under market for the title match will be settled with '5 Stars or More' as the winning selection.

When it opened, the eventual winner was a 13/20 favourite over the 11/10 which would have paid out for any star rating result under five stars.

Early wagers, on the Under, appears to have forced the bookmaker to adjust the odds with the eventual losing pick lowered into 19/20 while '5 Stars or More' moved up to 3/4.

A couple of days before the event, '5 Stars or More' dropped into 3/5 with its opposition moving out to 6/5.

The next best match in the review was the six-man which saw SuperKliq lose to the trio of Jurassic Express and Christian Cage. It received five stars from the newsletter's editor.

The line for the contest was set at four-and-a-half, so the '4.5 Stars or More' selection will be the winning pick.

The top two matches are important to the settlement of some prop markets that were priced up for the event.

Firstly - with there being a gap of at least half a star between the top match and the next best - a prop which asked customers whether there would be a 'Margin of Victory' of half-a-star or more between the two matches will be graded with 'Yes' winning at odds of 5/4.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Prop Bet

As well as that, with the main event only receiving the most star ratings in the review, Kambi's 'Joint Winners' proposition market will be settled with the 'No' being declared the winning selection at odds of 4/9 because no other match, or matches, shared the bout of the night honours.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Prop Bet

'Yes' will be the winning pick in the prop which asked whether or not Meltzer would rate any match five stars or more.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Prop Bet

The selection was a 2/5 favourite throughout its period of availability.

The trios match saw itself up against the Daniel Bryan versus Miro final in the AEW World Championship Eliminator tournament in a head-to-head market in which customers were able to bet on which - of the two contests - would earn the most stars from Meltzer.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Head-To-Head

The tournament final - which was won by Danielson -  received four-and-a-half stars in the review.

Another match which received four-and-a-half stars from the reporter was the one which saw MJF defeat Darby Allin.

It competed against the Malakai Black and Andrade versus PAC and Cody Rhodes match which scored a quarter of a star less meaning the winning pick was 'Darby Allin .vs. MJF' in that matchbet.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Head-To-Head

The third, and final, head-to-head market had the Minnesota Street Fight (Inner Circle .vs. Men of the Year and America Top Team) up against Britt Baker's AEW Women's Championship defence against Tay Conti.

The latter scored three-and-a-half stars while the multi-person street fight was given four stars. The eventual winner was a 4/5 favourite ahead of the PPV.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Head-To-Head

Before I conclude with the final two prop markets that were available for the event, I'll share with you all of the results from the Over/Under markets because the table will act as a guide to explain how the two remaining markets will be graded.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Star Ratings Results

As you'll be able to notice in the table, eight matches were graded four stars or higher. Five of which were rated at least four-and-a-half stars. This meant that 'Yes' will be the winning selections in the final two prop markets that were available.

In one, customers were asked whether or not over six-and-a-half matches would be given at least four stars in Meltzer's review.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Prop Bet

The other win for 'Yes' came in the prop which asked whether there would be at least four matches graded four-and-a-half stars or higher.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Prop Bet

The eventual winners were 4/6 in both markets.

I aim to return next week with a look at the star ratings betting results for this weekend's WWE Survivor Series PPV.

WWE Survivor Series (2021) Star Ratings Line From Kambi

As of the time of writing, Kambi has Over/Under star ratings lines for the matches that have been announced the event. You'll be able to see them in the table above.

BetOnline's Closing AEW Full Gear 2021 Betting Favourites

BetOnline's match markets for AEW Full Gear 2021 closed at 11:00PM GMT.

Here are the closing favourites ranked in order of strength starting with the selection with the shortest odds.

  • Britt Baker
  • 'Hangman' Page
  • Lucha Bros.
  • CM Punk
  • The Inner Circle
  • Hikaru Shida and Thunder Rosa
  • MJF
  • Bryan Danielson
  • SuperKliq
  • Black and Andrade
Sky Bet's markets are still available as of the time of writing. All of the names listed above are also favoured with that firm.

Technically, all of Kambi's markets also had the same favourites with one slight exception. The market for the final of the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament was at pick 'em after Miro's odds declined this evening.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Betting

Kambi had both participants at 17/20 each a little over an hour ago. Miro had started out the day at 2/1 while Bryan Danielson was a 1/3 favourite before rising this evening.

Kambi Releases Observer Props & Specials For AEW Full Gear 2021

Kambi's oddsmakers have published Wrestling Observer star rating proposition and specials markets for tonight's AEW Full Gear PPV.

There are five proposition markets available. Those who are used to seeing the Observer offerings from Kambi will know what to expect.

In the first one - named 'Joint Winner' - customers are asked whether or not two or more matches will receive the highest amount of stars when Dave Meltzer's review of the event is published in next week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Those who think there will be a tie can get 6/4 for 'Yes' while the option to bet on one sole match receiving the highest number of stars in the report can back 'No' at 4/9.

The 'Margin of Victory' prop asks customers if there will be a half-a-star (or more) schism between the top match and the next best in the review. 'No' is an 11/20 favourite to the 5/4 for 'Yes'. It's worth pointing out that - if two or more matches are tied with the most stars - the market will be settled with 'No' as the winning selection.

A prop which asks if Dave Meltzer will grade any match five stars or more is offering 2/5 favouritism to 'Yes' while its opposing selection is 7/4.

There are two proposition markets which kind of also work as over/unders.

In one, clients are asked whether there will be at least seven (over 6.5) matches that will be given four stars or more in the report. 'Yes' is a 4/6 favourite over the 27/25 for 'No'.

The other prop raises the line somewhat and asks if four or more matches on the card will receive four-and-a-half stars or higher. Just like with the other market, the 'Yes' is favoured by 4/6 and the 'No' is 27/25.

There are three head-to-head markets available. In these specials, customers have the option to gamble on which, of the two contests, will receive the most stars in Meltzer's write-up.

The first sees Bryan Danielson versus Miro (written as 'AEW World Championship Eliminator') up against the trios falls count anywhere match which has Christian Cage and Jurassic Express taking on SuperKliq.

Both options are 23/20 while the 'Same Star Rating', which covers a potential tie, is offered at 6/4.

It's worth noting that, in the O/Us for those two matches, Kambi has the line set at 4.5 Stars for the trios match and 4.75 Stars for the singles.

The same pricing has been applied to the second head-to-head.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Betting

In this matchbet, the match between Darby Allin and MJF opposes the tag match Black and Andrade versus PAC and Rhodes tag contest.

Once again, the O/U lines for each match contrast. This time, the singles has a line of 4.5 while the tag is a quarter shorter at 4.25.

The third head-to-head also has a difference of a quarter star when you compare their actual star ratings lines.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Betting

The Inner Circle .vs. Men of the Year and American Top Team, which the bookies have given a line of 3.75 Stars, is a 4/5 favourite over the 7/4 for  'AEW Women Championship' match between Britt Baker and Tay Conti. The bookmakers' line for the women's match is set at four stars, but -as you'll see below - the odds for the match to go under four stars have declined since the O/U market was installed at the start of the month.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Betting

Compare this to the other O/U, and you'll notice that the odds for the tag match to get 3.75 stars or more have shortened from 19/20 into 7/10.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Observer Betting

All of these markets will be settled once next week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter - with Dave Meltzer's Full Gear report - is published.

Kambi Releases New AEW And WWE Markets

New pro wrestling markets have been published by the oddsmakers from Kambi. In this post, I'll point out what's available.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Match Markets

AEW Full Gear 2021

Markets for some of the matches that are set for AEW's next PPV - Full Gear 2021 - have been released.

Headlining the event will be an AEW World Championship match between Kenny Omega and his challenger - Adam 'Hangman' Page.

As of this afternoon, the champ is a 5/2 underdog. Page is 1/4.

Britt Baker will defend the AEW Women's World Championship against Tay Conti on the show. Kambi lists Baker as a 2/13 fave while Conti is 7/2.

The Lucha Brothers are 11/25 favourites for their AEW World Tag Team Championship defence against FTR. Those looking to have a gamble on the challengers can currently find them at 8/5.

The final match market available - for now - is the one for the singles contest between MJF and Darby Allin. Both men are 17/20 each.

Full Gear is scheduled to take place on November 13.

AEW Full Gear Wrestling Observer Star Rating O/U Lines
Kambi has set the following lines for the Observer star ratings markets for the Full Gear matches.

Omega .vs. Page: 5 Stars
Baker .vs. Conti: 4 Stars
Lucha Bros. .vs. FTR: 5 Stars
Allin .vs. MJF: 4.5 Stars

Royal Rumble Favourites
Markets for both of the Royal Rumble matches are available on the websites with Kambi's pro wrestling coverage.

Brock Lesnar is a 2/1 favourite to win the men's battle royal while Bayley (4/1) is at the top of the list for the women's match.

The two names were already perched at the top of respective Rumble markets from Sky Bet and William Hill.

I will undoubtedly go back-and-forth between now and January 29 , but I think those two are positioned correctly as the faves.

Going into WWE Crown Jewel, it was reported that Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar was not going to be a one and done. The way the match concluded, with further doubt cast upon Paul Heyman's true allegiance, and with Lesnar being indefinitely suspended - after attacking Adam Pearce on Smackdown the following night - it isn't over.

One way to get back to Lesnar/Reigns is through a Lesnar Rumble win. If, of course, he isn't brought back to face Reigns in a Universal Title match before then.

As for Bayley - I had a gamble on her to win the women's Royal Rumble match as soon as it was announced that she was injured. January is seemingly too early for her to return, but I thought it was worth a punt. I'm glad to see other bettors appear to have the same hopes as I.

WrestleMania 38 Logo

WrestleMania 38 Champions
The oddsmakers have also priced up their annual specials in which customers can gamble on who they believe will be the champions of the four major WWE straps coming out of next year's WrestleMania.

Universal Title
The current Universal Champion - Roman Reigns - is a 1/2 favourite to be in possession of the title when all is said and done on April 3rd 2022.

Unsurprisingly - considering the current storyline (and with him being the Rumble favourite) - Brock Lesnar is 7/4 to be the Universal Champion after the two-night show.

Other names in the running are:  Drew McIntyre 3/1, The Rock 11/2, Bill Goldberg 15/1, Jeff Hardy 50/1 and Sheamus 50/1.

Smackdown Women's Championship
Sasha Banks, Women's Royal Rumble favourite - Bayley - and the current WWE Smackdown Women's Champion - Charlotte Flair - are joint favourites, at odds of 2/1, in the market for the blue brand.

Behind the trio at the top are: Shayna Baszler 3/1, Naomi 9/2, Sonya Deville 12/1 and Xia Li 33/1.

Raw Women's Championship
The current WWE Raw Women's Champion - Becky Lynch - is a 4/5 favourite to leave WrestleMania with the title. Next up is her current foe, Bianca Belair, who's 43/20.

The list continues with: Asuka and Rhea Ripley both at 3/1. Then it's Alexa Bliss 15/1, Doudrop 15/1 and Liv Morgan 25/1.

WWE Championship
Big E is at the top of the market for the WWE Championship. He's 8/5 and is ahead of 11/4 Edge.

The list, which is longer than the previous three markets, also has: Bobby Lashley 4/1, AJ Styles 6/1, Seth Rollins 6/1, Randy Orton 9/1, Brock Lesnar 10/1, Damian Priest 12/1, Finn Balor 12/1, Bill Goldberg 15/1, Keith Lee 15/1 and Kevin Owens (who could be gone by then) at 15/1.

How Kambi's AEW Full Gear 2020 Observer Markets Were Settled

The AEW Tag Team Title match, from Full Gear 2020 - which saw The Young Bucks beat FTR for the straps - was given the most stars in Dave Meltzer's review of the November 7th PPV.

Five-and-a-quarter stars was given to the bout in Meltzer's report that was published in the most recent issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Going in, Kambi's oddsmakers offered only two selections in the market in which customers could gamble on what the highest rated match on the card would be. The options were 'AEW Tag Team Championship' and 'Any Unlisted Match'.

As you can see below, the eventual winner started out as a 2/5 favourite. Its price rose right up to 8/13 by the day of the show possibly due to the news reports that the Bucks' Matt Jackson had an injury leading into the show.

The losing pick started out at 7/4, but was at 23/20 in the hours ahead of the event.

Kambi's Observer Markets For AEW Full Gear 2020

The second best match of the night went to Kenny Omega versus Adam Page. It received four-and-a-half stars from the reviewer.

With the tag title match being the sole match in the review to earn the highest star rating, 'No' was the winning selection in a prop market which asked customers whether or not there would be 'Joint Winners' in Meltzer's review.

The winning selection started out as an 11/25 favourite, but was backed into 2/5 within a couple of days.

Kambi's Observer Markets For AEW Full Gear 2020

As already mentioned, Omega versus Page was three quarters of a star behind the match of the night and - as a result of this - Kambi settled a different prop in favour of 'Yes'.

In the 'Margin of Victory' market, customers were asked whether there would be a gap of at least half a star between the top match and the next best.

The winning selection closed at 27/25 after starting out at 17/20.

Kambi's Observer Markets For AEW Full Gear 2020

'Yes' was the winner in a third proposition market that was written up for the PPV. Kambi asked whether there would be four matches or more on the Full Gear card that would get at least four stars from the Observer editor.

Darby Allin's AEW TNT Championship victory over Cody Rhodes and the main event - which saw Jon Moxley successfully retain the AEW World Championship against Eddie Kingston in an 'I Quit' match - both scored four-and-a-quarter stars.

Those two bouts, added to the best and second highest scoring match in Meltzer's review, meant that customers who evidently backed 'Yes' had bets settled in their favour.

As you'll see below, the eventual winner was initially a 3/5 favourite. It was backed into 13/25 by the following morning and was then down to 11/25 a day after that.

Kambi's Observer Markets For AEW Full Gear 2020

Coincidentally, the two four-and-a-quarter star matches were paired off against each other in a head-to-head special in which clients were given the opportunity to gamble on which bout they thought would receive the most stars in Dave Meltzer's report.

Kambi's Observer Markets For AEW Full Gear 2020

From the betting, it would appear that the customers felt that the main event would get the most stars as the selection was moved into 4/6 within a couple of days and was then into 11/20 on the evening of the event.

The odds for the eventual winner - 'Same Star Rating' - did drop initially as it was moved from 7/4 into 33/20. However, by Saturday evening, the selection had risen to 2/1.

A second head-to-head had MJF .vs. Chris Jericho and the AEW Women's Championship contest square off to see which would get the most stars in the review.

Hikaru Shida's title retention against Nyla Rose received three-and-a-quarter stars. It was beaten slightly by MJF's win over Jericho, which earned three-and-a-half stars from the reviewer.

Kambi's Observer Markets For AEW Full Gear 2020

The winning selection was EVS from November 3rd up to the day of the event.

As per usual, Kambi released over/under star ratings markets for most of the bouts on the card. The lines, stars, and results can be found in the table below.

WON Star Ratings O/U Results For AEW Full Gear

The latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which features Dave Meltzer's review of AEW Full Gear, was published this morning.

Now that the review has been written, Kambi's oddsmakers will grade five Observer star ratings markets that were published for the PPV.

In this post, I'll go through the markets in the order of how the matches appeared on the PPV card and point out how each will be settled.

The first market that had a market for it, going down the PPV order, was the one which saw The Young Bucks lose to Ortiz and Santana.

Kambi's line for the match was set at 4.25 Stars. The editor rated it exactly as Kambi projected it.

As you can see, the winning selection - 'Exactly 4.25 Stars' - was 5/2 throughout the time the market was available to customers. Looking at how the betting went, it appears the consensus backed it to go over as the odds for that selection went from 3/4 into 4/6.

The next match with a star ratings market was Adam Page versus PAC.

Meltzer graded the bout, which saw Page get a decision over his opponent, four-and-a-quarter as well. This meant that it was a win for those who may have backed the 'Over' as Kambi's line was four stars.

It looks like the consensus made the right call because, if you look at the movement above, the odds for 'Over 4 Stars' gradually dropped from its opening 13/10 and was down to 17/20 in the days leading into the show.

A market for the AEW World Tag Team Championship three-way was published on November 7th with the line at four stars. The pricing for the Over was 4/5, the 'Under' was 11/10 and the option to wager on 'Exactly 4 Stars' was 23/10. The prices remained stationary right up to when I last viewed them on the night of the event.

The winning selection was 'Exactly 4 Stars'.

Chris Jericho's successful AEW World Heavyweight Championship defence over Cody was rated four-and-a-half stars by Dave Meltzer.

Kambi set the line at four-and-a-quarter, so the winning selection was the 'Over'. As you can see below, the market had been available since September 16th. The eventual winner was backed from 6/5 into 11/10 initially, but it then began to drift out in the week leading up to showtime. It was available at 13/10 for the last couple of days before the event due to people siding with the 'Under'.

The final bout on the card, which was the lights out match between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega, was not received particularly well by Meltzer. Despite this, he felt it had good storytelling and execution. Plus, and this is what I felt, it would have to be graded along the lines of the Mankind versus The Undertaker Hell in a Cell match from the 1998 King of the Ring.

Foley versus Taker was given four-and-a-half stars and, when asked by a friend last night how I thought Meltzer would grade Moxley/Omega, I guessed it would be in a similar ballpark to the rating of the 1998 match.

It was a perfect guess, if I say so myself, as Saturday's match was indeed given 4.50 from Meltzer.

As for Kambi - its line was set at 4.25 Stars, so those who may have backed the 'Over' would have had their bets settled in their favour.

The selection opened as a 3/4 favourite and was 11/20 for the last nine days the market was available.

William Hill's AEW Full Gear Betting Markets

Above are the William Hill Sportsbook's prices for tonight's AEW Full Gear PPV.

They were first installed on Thursday. As of this evening, only one of the markets has been adjusted since I initially wrote about them two days ago.

The selections that have changed have been for the Riho versus Emi Sakura bout. Riho was a 4/11 favourite on Thursday, but I noticed she was down to 1/3 when I visited the site twenty-four hours later.

With Riho moving in, the bookies moved Sakura up from 2/1 to 9/4.
