Rusev Wins US Championship At Smackdown Taping

On next week's episode of WWE Smackdown - which was taped last night - Rusev will defeat Shinsuke Nakamura to become WWE United States Champion.

A betting market, that was opened by Sky Bet over the summer following Nakamura's US Championship win, will now obviously close and I surmise will be settled once the episode airs next week.

I made frequent visits to the market over the past five months. Most of my visits have been recorded in the table below. The eventual winner closed as a favourite. He was 7/4 when I noted down his price over the weekend. He was still at this price when I last looked over it on Monday night

WWE US Champion After Shinsuke Nakamura Betting Odds

As you can see, Rusev had started off at 10/1 when betting first opened. However, from my visits, it appears as though his longest odds to succeed Nakamura were available around about a week after the market was first installed when he was 12/1.

From there, and despite another drift in mid-to-late October, The Bulgarian Brute's price declined across almost every visit where I noticed changes.

I placed one bet on this market. It was on Daniel Bryan when he was 20/1 back on July 17th. I thought it was a decent shout considering both Bryan and Nakamura have a wish to wrestle each other on the big stage. I realised the bet was a losing one as soon as Bryan not only became WWE Champion, but also found himself as a heel.
