Brock Lesnar Specials Update For June 10th

With Samoa Joe now the number one contender to Brock Lesnar's WWE Universal Championship, I thought I'd look over Kambi's 'Champion After Brock Lesnar' special to see how Joe's odds have fallen between Sunday and today.

I last wrote about the Brock Lesnar specials in May after the oddsmakers opened a market where clients could wager on the date that Lesnar drops the title. I neglected to write about the 'Next to Win' markets, though. Before Sunday, the most recent price I had for Samoa Joe was 7/1 on May 12th. Then - when the market was republished on Sunday evening, which was ahead of Extreme Rules with Joe the betting favourite to win the main event - he was installed at 3/1.

Since winning the fatal 5-way to secure a title shot against Lesnar, the oddsmakers have cut Joe's price to 9/4.

As you can see, it isn't only Joe's price that has been snipped since Extreme Rules 2017. The bookmakers have also lowered Finn Balor from 10/1 into 8/1 and Roman Reigns from 1/2 into 21/50.

As I've noted in numerous posts about Brock Lesnar's current reign - the reports I've read had 'The Beast' defending the strap against Braun Strowman, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins right up to WrestleMania 34 where the planned main event will see Roman Reigns as the next challenger.

Looking at the changes in the above table, you can see all of the aforementioned names having been backed at certain points during the times that I have recorded the moves.

Strowman's price was lowered from 7/4 to 6/4 between April 22nd and May 12th. This may have been the period where it was looking like Strowman was next in line to face Lesnar (at Great Balls of Fire) but just before he was was written out of TV due to his injury. I expect Strowman's number to once again shorten if he does end up being the wrestler on the opposite side of the ring against Lesnar at SummerSlam.

Seth Rollins' number went from 7/1 to 3/1 between May 12th and June 4th's republishing. This was likely due to Rollins being a second-favourite to win the main event on Sunday.

Finn Balor had drifted out from 4/1 to 10/1 in the same period that Rollins' price was lowered. A few days ago, I asked someone what the plan had been for Lesnar at SummerSlam - before Strowman's injury forced WWE to run with Samoa Joe at Great Balls of Fire and seemingly move Strowman .vs. Lesnar to August - and was told that they believe the original plan may have been Balor versus Lesnar for SummerSlam.

And then there's Roman Reigns.

Despite drifting out - when people must have backed Strowman - in May, Reigns' price has shortened this week. His current price of 21/50 is a tad better than how it opened (1/2).

The market where customers can wager on the date Brock Lesnar drops the Universal Championship has also seen action since Sunday with the oddsmakers cutting three selections.

Period Where Brock Lesnar Loses WWE Universal Championship

Knowing that there will be a defence at Great Balls of Fire against Samoa Joe, the odds for a loss 'Before SummerSlam' has been cut from 5/2 into 9/4. The 'During SummerSlam' selection has also lowered from 5/2 into 9/4 with customers backing the potential Braun Strowman match, if all goes to plan.

There are evidently customers, or a trader, believing in the long title reign up to WrestleMania 34 as the price for Lesnar to lose the strap 'During WrestleMania' has moved in from 1/2 to 21/50 this week.

I haven't wagered on this market, but believe that Lesnar is riding all the way to New Orleans to set up the match where the only two men to have defeated The Undertaker at a WrestleMania will clash for the Universal Championship.

It writes itself.

When available, the markets can be found under 'WWE' on the sports betting and casino websites that offer wrestling betting within their sportsbooks. Some of the firms appear ON THIS LIST, but you can view a few examples below:
