Charlotte Flair's WWE Smackdown Women's Championship win at SummerSlam 2018 was a surprise, if you were to observe how the betting went in the 'Smackdown Women's Champion After Carmella' market that had been available from the Kambi oddsmakers since the middle of June.
Flair was third in betting when the market closed ahead of her title win.
The favourite, at the time of closure, was Becky Lynch at 4/6.
Asuka was also seeing some action in the latter stages of betting. I guess this is from customers who may have thought the Empress of Tomorrow would end up being added to the Smackdown Women's Championship match or expected Lynch and Flair to both move into a feud coming out of the triple threat without the title and then have Carmella moved back into a feud with Asuka.
Or it could have been a totally different reason.
What we do know is Flair closed at odds of 2/1. She had opened at 3/1 in June, and fluctuated throughout. The best price you would have found her at was 4/1 in mid-July.
