Kambi's New 'Champion After' Markets

In the most recent post, I mentioned that the oddsmakers from Kambi have published betting market for the three upcoming WWE pay-per-views. They weren't the only markets that were released yesterday. Customers can now place wagers on the title successors to the champions that were crowned at SummerSlam 2018.

Here's what they've done.

Universal Champion After Roman Reigns
The market for the Universal Championship lists Braun Strowman as a 2/5 favourite to succeed Roman Reigns.

The pair will meet up at WWE Hell in a Cell 2018, and will likely feud in singles and tag matches through the autumn, so it's understandable to see Strowman top the list.

The Rock being second-favourite is a reaction to the rumours of Dwayne Johnson working next year's WrestleMania. As I wrote in a feud post earlier this month, Rock versus Reigns is the most obvious match if Johnson were to return for one more proper match.

In this week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that there is a paragraph in the new book about the making of WrestleMania 34 where Reigns was asked about wrestling The Rock. Reigns states 'I think he'd be down with it.. If it's good for business, if it's good for my career, I don't see why not. If it's all positive and he's with it, I'll take a slap punch, Rock Bottom me, Baby... just let me kick out at two.'

The end part is important. If this match were to ever take place - and it's all rumour right now - then Reigns really should be the one going over.

Kevin Owens, who 'quit' on Monday night is 13/2. Then you have another heel in Baron Corbin at 10/1.

Reigns' Shield allies, Dean Ambrose (20/1) and Seth Rollins (20/1) are in the middle part of the market. You can view the entire list below.

WWE Smackdown Women's Champion After Charlotte Flair
Unsurprisingly, Charlotte Flair's foe - Becky Lynch - is a 1/4 to succeed the current titleholder.

Asuka in second-place is understandable considering Flair has a win over her. I would go so far as to state that Ronda Rousey in third makes sense as well considering there will have to be some sort of drive over the next year plus to move Rousey and others over to Smackdown in time for the show's debut on Fox. (They should have a word with Brie Bella's agent!)

They've placed the former champion, Carmella, at 8/1.

Raw Women's Champion After Ronda Rousey
Charlotte Flair is a 7/4 favourite to be the WWE Raw Women's Champion after Ronda Rousey. She is the correct favourite considering the rumours that Flair and Rousey is a plan for next year's WrestleMania. Ronda's reign as champion - if booked correctly - should extend up to Mania in the very least.

Alexa Bliss, who will challenge for the title at WWE Hell in a Cell next month - is a 5/2 second-favourite.

Rousey's rumoured opponent for WWE Evolution - Nikki Bella - is 4/1. As is her friend, Natalya, who will likely end up feuding with Rousey sometime in the future. As I wrote in a comment section earlier today, if Charlotte Flair .vs. Ronda Rousey doesn't end up happening at WrestleMania, it would not surprise me to see Natalya as Rousey's Mania opponent. Natalya was my initial pick to oppose Rousey at Evolution, but the Nikki Bella rumours have put paid to that idea.

Another real-life friend of Rousey, who could turn out to be a future opponent, Shayna Baszler, is 8/1 on this list. She also appears on the Smackdown market (at 13/2) as she's on the NXT roster for the time being.
